Fixing Common Web Connector Errors in
QuickBooks Desktop
QuickBooks Web Connector is an advanced tool for connecting your QB software
with Intuit or other third-party applications. Such third-party integrations
help automate your accounting or financial tasks, export your data with just
one click, or directly import your sales data to the program with just one or
two clicks. However, the process is not as easy as it seems, as you might
encounter the common web connector errors in QuickBooks Desktop during the
process. Failures may occur when verifying certificates to ensure connection
security.
We are writing a comprehensive guide to help you understand the error and its
possible causes and find suitable stepwise instructions to fix it. You must
follow the steps according to the error you are facing. Let’s get started…
Types of Web Connector Errors When Connecting
to QuickBooks
Let’s familiarize ourselves with the possible errors you might encounter when
connecting QuickBooks with third-party applications using QuickBooks Web
Connector and the stepwise instructions for fixing such critical issues.
:
QBWC1005: QuickBooks Web Connector failed to run
1.Your QuickBooks web connector might fail to create a file that needs to
work or connect third-party applications with the QB Desktop software,
triggering the error message “QuickBooks Web Connector failed to run” with
error code QBWC1005.
To fix such issues, you must set up the correct Windows user login or give
the admin rights. Find the QuickBooks Web connector file or folder on your
computer. Right-click on it. Choose Properties, and then move to the Security
tab.
2.Click Edit to open the <Object> dialog box permissions.
3.Now, do one of these:
1.Click Add only to set permissions for a group or user not appearing in
the Group or User names box. Enter the name of the group or user for
whom you want to set permissions, and then click OK.
:
2.Edit or remove permissions from an existing group or user by clicking
the group or user name.
4.Further, do one of the following:
1.Select the Allow or Deny check box in the Permissions for <User or
Group> box to allow or deny permission.
2.Click Remove to remove the group or user from the Group or user names
QBWC1006: QuickBooks Web Connector failed to run
1.QuickBooks web connector failed to find the QWCLog.txt file required to work
or connect third-party applications with QuickBooks.
To correct this, you need to set the permissions correctly; here’s howPress
the Windows + E keys to launch Windows Explorer on your computer.
2.To find the location where the QWCLog.txt file is saved, go to this folder:
C:\Users\Public\AppData\local\IntuitQuickBooks Web Connector\version directory
3.Now, look for the QWCLog.txt file and ensure it’s not write-protected.
4.Finally, launch Web Connector and ensure it’s working without any issues.
QuickBooks Application with Revoked Certificate Error
1.QuickBooks Desktop requires a digital certificate when connecting to Intuit
or a third-party application to ensure the connection is safe and secure. If
you get a certificate error during this connection, it is because a Symantec
Root Certificate was revoked, making some other certificates appear invalid.
You might see the ‘QuickBooks Application with Revoked Certificate error.’
You may get this error when connecting to a third-party application via Web
Connector or without. We recommend you update your QB Desktop to fix the
issues when connecting to third-party applications using Web Connector. Follow
the below steps to learn how to fix the issues to connect with other
applications without a Web Connector:
Download the zip file.
2.In File Explorer, go to your Download folder or directly locate the zip file
that was saved and extract the certSync.bat file.
3.Now, right-click on this file and choose the Run as Administrator option.
4.It might take a few minutes to run; wait until then. Also, do not close the
Command Prompt window until you see CertUtil: -verifyCTL command completed
successfully.
5.Once done, close the window and try again to connect the third-party app
with QuickBooks.
This guide covers some of the most common web connector errors in QuickBooks
Desktop when connecting to Intuit or third-party applications. Resolving these
errors requires you to update the file permissions correctly, download the
QuickBooks updates, and do the others mentioned above. Conducting these
solutions will help you get rid of such issues.
