Adapting PD Catheter Connections
to Alternate PD Delivery Systems
Baxter PD delivery systems connect to Baxter transfer sets via a luer-Iock connection and most Fresenius (FMCNA) PD delivery
systems connect to FMCNA extension sets via a stay•safe® (PIN) connection. However, Baxter and FMCNA connections are not
compatible. When a Baxter PD patient (Iuer-Iock transfer set) or an FMCNA stay•safe PD patient (stay•safe extension
set) is admitted to a facility supplied with alternate PD systems, one or two QUICK AND EASY adaptations to the
patient’s extension or transfer set are needed to safely and securely connect to the available PD supplies.
