PERSONAL PROFILE SUMMARY
I am a creative and committed person with full competence in the teaching
field. I am reliable in as far as the tasks assigned to me are concerned and

above all I am result oriented. I have good interpersonal communication and
analytical skills and with demonstrable capacity to effectively handle defined
tasks with minimum supervision.
I have had exposure nationally in carrying out duties on behalf of the
education sector as my profession. I have good time management skills that
enable me achieve targets. I therefore would like to exploit my capabilities to
reach out to a wider community as well as widen the scope of my knowledge,
excel in my career and produce targeted results at any work place. I have a ten
years teaching experience at University level.
CAREER OBJECTIVE
To be in a position that will enable me take part in making the Uganda
government realize its policy of making Kiswahili a second National Language
a reality by exploiting my capabilities,
utilise my skills to train Kiswahili
teachers and other Kiswahili professionals who would advance the teaching
and learning of Kiswahili.

WORKING EXPERIENCE / EMPLOYMENT RECORD
Currently I am an Assistant Lecturer of Kiswahili in the Institute of Languages,
Kabale University. At the same time am the Head of Kiswahili Unit. Some of my
duties include:
Academic

Participating in the Teaching, Assessment & Marking of Various Kiswahili
courses

Developing study materials in some courses in collaboration with
colleagues (Lecturers in various Kiswahili disciplines).

In collaboration with the Director of the institute of Languages, I identify
relevant themes, guide students on research concept paper writing and the
general supervision process, organise supervisors refresher workshops,
receive and organise the vetting of the students concept papers, identify &
appoint supervisors, link / introduce successful students to supervisors,
follow up the supervision process to completion, handle problem cases,
receive students dissertations, ensure dissertations are examined, display
and keep students performance records)


Administration
a) Head of Kiswahili Kiswahili Department
I ensure that lecturers have been identified for all the courses on offer. In
collaboration with the lecturers, present courses to be taught, make
timetables, monitor activities of the lecturer in this section, Ensure
coursework assignments are administered to students and marked,
ensure lecturers set students’ examinations, produce and maintain
examination records of the students in the Kiswahili section, provide
feedback to students regarding their performance, compile results for
presentation to various Boards as the Kiswahili Coordinator and attend
academic meetings, compile reports on all the above activities which are
sent to the Director Institute of Languages.

East African Kiswahili Chatter (Hotel Equatorial Kampala) 2006


