Unit 2 – CLE 10 1. Plagiarism is the act of appropriating someone else’s ideas, paragraphs and images as if they are yours, without giving sources or credits. 2. The best way to avoid plagiarism is by giving the name of the original author or source through citations. Using the quotation marks helps the reader identify the roots of the idea, text, or image you used in your presentation. 3. The digital footprint is the aftermath of your activity on internet. It can happen either under your awareness, when you choose what to show to other people, either without your consent. 4. Acknowledging the digital footprint and its consequences is a good method to bring up self-awareness. Deciding what part of your life is seen by social media, you can establish different relationships with family members, friends, co-workers etc.; most importantly, social media can be used as a scouting platform. 5. Trace-My-Shadow is a tool that helps you see your trace score based on the apps and devices that you use regularly. 6. My score for total traces was 48. 7. Even though I am not similar to many terms described by the tool, I am surprised by some apps which I thought were confidential. The trace score shows that I should be more aware of what I share on internet. 8. It is important to know were and how you are being traced, because you develop more awareness when using that domain/app. You start understanding about tracing and where you can avoid it, so you can prevent a rising trace score. 9. 5 tips for protecting your privacy and protecting your digital footprint are: - have more secure and stronger passwords; - be aware of any types of online scams; - use a secure, safe connection; - be aware of the information you share on the internet; - install anti-virus and malware protection.
