Lion Alcolmeter® SD-400P Ver.2 is a handheld, evidential grade
Application field: Healthcare settings (e.g. hospitals, addiction treatment centers,
and rehabilitation facilities), OSH workplaces, law enforcement, etc.
Applications & Benefits
• Simple to Use: Fully automatic, making it easy to use with minimal training required.
• Fast, Accurate Analysis: Utilizes Lion fuel cell sensor for precise alcohol detection
and long stable working life.
• Easy to Read Display: Alcohol readings are shown on a large illuminated display.
• Passive / Active Mode: Enables screening of unconscious or impaired patients/subjects
possibly under alcohol intoxication or influence in Accident & Emergency (A&E) departments.
• Integral Printer: Comprehensive test record (with alcohol readings, date and times. Names,
signatures and the location are then entered by hand). Printout is available in configured languages.
• True Evidential Capability: Sufficiently accurate for evidential testing. Attach the
printer or use a PC with OnLine-400tm for data input, automated control and comprehensive
documentation.
• Last Test Recall: The last test result can be retrieved and printed.
• Shoulder-Bag / Carry-Case: Soft water-resistant shoulder bag (standard) or hard,
water-proof carry-case(optional), fitted to carry complete accessories and disposables.
• Automatic Data Collection: Records are stored in memory (with date and time), and
can be downloaded to a PC and printer.
• Approvals: Approved by Medical Device Authority (MDA), Ministry of Health Malaysia, and
law enforcement authorities worldwide.

of alcohol vapor in a patient/subject's expired breath. This enables on-thespot determination of the patient/subject's blood alcohol level, with an
evidential report provided.

On/Off Switch
(function switch A)
Press once to switch ON, press again to switch OFF. Use of the On/Off switch is
inhibited to prevent switch-off during a breath test.
Sensor
Using Lion fuel electrochemical cell sensor
Digital Display
Shows the status, instructions, subject’s alcohol level, time and date, battery condition,
operational state and error messages. It is illuminated for use at night
Beeper (internal)
Gives audible messages of certain events and conditions.
Sampling Port
The entrance to the fuel cell and breath flow sensor. This port must NOT become
blocked or restricted.
Spigot Mouthpiece
A new mouthpiece is fitted to the sampling port for each breath test. This disposable
item is individually and hygienically wrapped.
The 4 Function
Switches
These have various uses, as stated in this handbook. From the left, they are
referred to B, C and D (the On/Off switch is A).
Communications Port
Allows access to certain software routines (such as calibration adjustment), when Dongle
key is fitted. If the instrument used with a printer, the printer cable is connected here. Also
used for transferring stored breath test data to a PC.
Power Supply
Located on the back of the instrument and is either a battery pack fitted with either 5
disposable alkaline batteries (AA) or is rechargeable power unit (RPU).
Printer
Battery-operated printer [Able Ap863 / Able Ap1300]
Dongle Electronic Keys
A security key which is fitted to the communication port so as to access certain
software routines, such as for instrument calibration adjustment.
Accessory Items
Accessory PC So�ware
Disposable Mouthpiece: Low resistance to breath flow; individually
and hygienically wrapped.
Data-400TM: Retrieve test data from the instrument’s memory and
store it on your PC’s memory; then export to any standard database
or spreadsheet program. Operates under MS Windows.
Reusable Sampling Cup: An alterna�ve to the mouthpiece, for rapid
subject sampling and turnover e.g Police roadblock or factory gate.
Rechargeable Power Unit [for 400 instrument]: With 220 volts AC/
12 volts DC intelligent charger.
DataMac-400TM: The same application as for
Data-400, but used in Apple Macintosh PC’s.
Supply with connector cable and full
instructions.
Vehicle Power Unit: Powers the 400 from vehicle’s 12 volts DC
supply [via the cigare�e lighter socket].
