263 YOGA
(10-12)
Are you an athlete that suffers from performance anxiety? Are you a student that suffers from test
anxiety? Do you have high levels of stress or trouble sleeping? If so, Yoga is the P.E. class of your dreams.
Yoga studios and gym memberships are so expensive! This class provides you with daily Yoga practice that
not only benefits your body, but also your mind. Physically you will build strength, balance, flexibility and
energy levels. Mentally you will build focus and learn to calm the mind, which will help reduce stress and
anxiety levels.
264 INDIVIDUAL
LIFETIME AND
SPORTS
(10-12)
Do you like sports but are not ultra competitive? Like to move and try but not too concerned with who
wins? Try this course! It’s a course designed to develop skills in sports and activities that you can do
throughout your lifetime. Activities may include archery, golf, fitness testing, team hardball, raquet and
recreation games, and others. (A bowling fee of $30 will be required for Eisenhower H.S. students.)

(11-12)
This course is intended to match regular education students with special needs students in the physical
education setting. P.O.W.E.R. (Physical Opportunity with Exceptional Rewards) is a class that serves to
encourage special needs students as they learn a variety of lifetime physical activities. Special needs
students will be provided opportunities to learn and discover the joys of physical activity while having one
or more regular education students with them, serving as a mentor or assistant.

DEVELOPMENT
(10-12)
This course is designed to address the needs of dedicated student athletes. Athletic Development will
consist of training all the components of athleticism related to the student’s sport and individual needs.
Training components related to sport improvement that will be covered in class are advanced weight
training, plyometrics, flexibility, speed/agility, and nutrition. Anatomy and physiology related to sport
performance will also be addressed.
283 DANCE I
(11-12)
This course is designed to expose students to the beginning skills of dance. Students will learn, perform,
analyze, and appreciate the fundamentals, technique and skills of ballet, jazz, hip-hop, line dancing, and
choreography. Students will also be exposed to aspects of fitness and wellness.
284 DANCE II
(11-12)
This class is similar to Dance 1 in structure, yet the styles of dances learned are different than dance
1. Dance 2 will help students master the beginning skills of modern and hip hop dance and expose
students to alternative dance skills. Students will learn, perform, analyze, and appreciate the
fundamentals, technique and skills of both genres. Students will also be exposed to aspects of fitness and
wellness.
286 COMPETITIVE
SPORTS
(10-12)
Do you love sports? Do you love to compete? If so, this is the course for you! This course will introduce
you to new sports, tweak some old ones, increase your fitness levels, and improve on your skills. We’ll
fitness test and get after it! Sports may include softball, ultimate Frisbee, rugby, soccer, basketball,
volleyball, lacross, floor hockey and more.
287 TOTAL BODY
CONDITIONING
(10-12)
This course offers the student opportunities to develop physical fitness through various fitness activities
including but not limited to, step aerobics, yoga, cardio & weight training, circuit training, interval training,
self-defense and kickboxing. The student will understand the proper form used to develop the muscles of
the body and to prevent exercise related injuries.
288 SCUBA
(11-12)
The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (P.A.D.I) Open Water Dive is the world’s most popular
international scuba course. This course has introduced millions of people to the adventures of Scuba
diving and follows strict guidelines. Students will master basic scuba knowledge, theory, and safety, both
in and out of the water. Students will have sufficient time to increase their swimming ability,
cardiovascular health, and practice their Confined Water Scuba Skills. Students will have opportunity to
become a certified scuba diver after completing four Open Water Dives at Haigh Quarry located in
Kankakee Illinois.
289 STRENGTH AND
CARDIO
(10-12)
This course is designed primarily for muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance. Emphasis is on
activities that deal with how the human body responds to repetition of weight lifting and exercise.
Students are taught proper principles of training and how these principles relate to exercise. The primary
goal of this program is to provide practical experience in measuring, evaluating and interpreting bodily
reactions during exercise. Programs are designed to meet the individual fitness needs of students.
290 OUTDOOR
EDUCATION
(11-12)
Students will develop an appreciation for lifelong educational outdoor activities. Students will participate
in a variety of team building activities to build trust, increase confidence, work cooperatively, and learn to
support each other. Activities may include bicycling, camping skills, kayaking, archery, indoor wall
climbing, in-line skating, orienteering, rappelling, safety and maintenance. Students may participate in
field trip experiences such as: Skiing/Snowboarding, Indoor Rock Climbing Facility, Forest Preserve
Hiking/Orienteering, Ice Skating, Camping, and other outdoor activities.
285 JUNIOR
LEADERSHIP
(11)
This exciting course is a great opportunity for our Junior students. It is a full year course that provides
independence and personal growth. Students work to develop leadership skills and learn how to be a
successful leader in a P.E. setting. Students learn to take initiative by leading warm-ups, demonstrating
skills, and motivating their peers. This rewarding course contributes to the leadership component of the
physical education experience. Students will advance to Senior Leadership to practice the leadership skills
they developed in Junior Leadership. To be accepted into the Leadership program, students must apply
and be recommended by a former P.E. teacher. Students are expected to be in good academic standing
and free of discipline referrals. Remember, to be a leader, you must lead by example.
291 SENIOR
LEADERSHIP
(12)
Prerequisite: Student must have completed the Junior leadership course. This class is an extension of
Junior Leadership. The student assists a P.E. teacher in a class of their choice; however, students are
encouraged to lead a freshman or sophomore P.E. class. Senior leaders will use the skills developed in Jr.
Leadership to motivate under-classmen to participate and enjoy physical activity. Students are also
expected to facilitate and participate in activities with their class. Senior Leadership is not guaranteed.
Students must be successful in Junior Leadership and earn the role of a Senior Leader.
