of her two topics.
MATATAG Curriculum aims to reduce the number of competencies and to focus more on
the development of foundational skills of literacy, numeracy, and socio-emotional skills of
Kindergarten to Grade 3 learners, thus, decongesting the present K to 12 curriculums. Ma’am Ong
also highlighted the four critical components of MATATAG, the 5 important skills, implementation
mechanism, support system, and expected impact.
In consonance with the new adjusted school calendar for SY 2023-2024. DepEd Order
No. 003, s. 2024 the Amendment to DepEd Order No. 22, s. 2023 titled “Implementing Guidelines
on the School Calendar and Activities for the School Year 2023-2024” to enable schools and
community learning centers (CLCS) to implement school activities and maximize instructional time
in cognizance of the goals and objectives of the DepEd MATATAG Agenda effectively and efficiently.
DepEd adjusted the school calendar for this SY because they place the highest priority on ensuring
the health, safety, and well-being of learners and teachers. In the words of Ma’am Ong, teachers
please always prepare yourself and indulge in the new curriculum, you are the frontline of
“MATATAG” Be strong and courageous in teaching the mind.
Other related issues discussed by their MANCOM are the dates to remember the upcoming
activities, Earthquake Drill, Third Quarter Exam (Class Marker Exam, Paper and pencil Exam), PTC,
Grade 6 and Grade 3 NAT (intensive review must be done in 30min. at lunchtime and extend 1 hour

GRADE LEADERS’ MEETING NARRATIVE REPORT

SY 2023-2024
The grade leaders’ meeting commenced promptly at the scheduled time with all attendees
present. Our School principal Doc Gemma Ethel B. Ong discussed important topics to be
disseminated to all teachers. She also stressed the strategies for addressing learning gaps and
providing additional support to struggling readers.

DENTAL HEALTH MONTH NARRATIVE REPORT
SY 2023-2024
Dental Health Month is an annual activity dedicated to raising awareness about
the importance of oral hygiene and overall dental health. It is celebrated every
February of the year. It provides an opportunity to educate pupils about preventive
measures, promote dental care practices, and highlight the significance of maintaining
good oral health habits.
Canitoan Elementary School celebrated the 20th National Oral Health Month
with the theme “Celebrating Decades of Healthy Smiles”. The school prepared
different classroom activities for the pupils. These activities covered topics such as
proper brushing techniques, the importance of regular dental check-ups, the effects
of sugary foods on dental health, and the role of fluoride in preventing tooth decay.
During the activity, which was held after recess, pupils performed the proper
brushing drills which were supervised by the advisers. The pupils practiced the
recommended two-minute routine of brushing one’s teeth in circular motion, allocating
10 to 15 seconds per section of the mouth. They were so happy that they have learned
the proper way of tooth brushing.
This activities play an essential role in promoting a culture of oral health
knowledge and empowerment among students. Schools contribute to kids' overall
well-being by providing educational opportunities, supporting preventative care
practices, and cultivating community collaborations, laying the foundation for lifelong
oral health. Going forward, continued efforts and collaboration with stakeholders will
be essential to maintaining enthusiasm and achieving long-term gains in oral health
outcomes within school communities.
