Tests for water:
1. cobalt(II) chloride: blue to pink
2. copper(II) sulphate: white to blue
Water Treatment
1. sedimentation: water is pumped into sedimentation tanks where it stands for a few hours. Mud sand and other
particles fall to the bottom due to gravity and form a layer of sediment.
2. Filtration: water is passed through layers of sand and gravel papers that trap solid particles. Water is also
passed through Carbon to remove tastes and odors.
3. Chlorination: chlorine is added to water which kills bacteria and microbes.
