EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The summer season is rapidly approaching, bringing with it intense heat
for people. Savories is a business that provides a delightful treat or product,
which is the dream cake ice cream that will help to relieve the heat this summer.
Dream Cake Ice Cream is a dessert or sweet treat that combines store-bought
cake and ice cream. The only difference from other dessert foods is that the ice
cream flavors used in it are fruits like banana and apple, which have numerous
health benefits. Dream Cake Ice Cream gives potential customers a healthy
dose of nutrients while also soothing their taste buds. The business aims to
produce delicious and healthy ice cream cakes that meet the needs of
customers looking for a sweet and nutritious snack. Its objective is to find
innovative ways to increase profitability and improve customer satisfaction.
People ranging in age from 5 to 75 years old, children, teens, and adults,
men and women, are the target market of the business since the product is
non-biased. People who live in Pinamalayan are also the target market for this
business.
Many businesses compete with Savories, particularly those that provide
desserts or sweet foods. The differe-nce is that the Savories business offers a
product that is both affordable and of good quality. Dream cake ice cream

is not commonly found in other desserts or sweet foods competitors.
The entrepreneurs' sales projections for the first week of operations are
PHP 5,500.00, based on the size of the market and the defined market area.
For the first year of operation, the entrepreneurs expect a growth rate of 0.16%
per month. The business was founded as a partnership, with each partner
contributing an equal amount of capital (Php 3,872.00). Word of mouth and
social media marketing will be used to promote the product.

INTRODUCTION
Ice cream is a soft, creamy treat made from a mixture of milk, cream, sugar,
and sometimes other ingredients that has been frozen using special
techniques. Ice cream is one of the most favorite treats in the Philippines.
Because of its cooling effect in the mouth, ice cream is a popular frozen dairy
product that is enjoyed by people of all ages. Nowadays, manufacturers are still
developing ice cream mixture formulations in response to consumer demand,
resulting in the creation of a variety of brands. But then, continued consumption
of it may cause serious health problems. It is a smooth, sweet, cold dessert
food prepared from a frozen mixture of milk products and flavorings, containing
a minimum of 10% milk fat (Karaman et al., 2014).
In this current generation, commercially produced regular ice cream has
become a brew of chemicals and synthetic ingredients, it also contains
sweeteners like high fructose corn syrup which is linked to diabetes,
neurobehavioral disorders like ADHD in children, and decreased mental acuity

foods group, are the leading sources of saturated fat, which contains
cholesterol and raises the risk of type 2 diabetes and, too much cholesterol in
your blood leads to high blood pressure, increasing your risk for cardiovascular
disease (Verma, Ansari, & Broadway, 2018).
In view of the raised attention regarding the nutritional value of foods and
the increased popularity of functional foods, one may ask the question whether
ice cream is a suitable matrix for added value in the nutrition area. Ice cream
consumption levels vary widely over countries and in those countries where the
level of consumption is considerable and where weight-management problems
are highly prevalent, the main challenge of the ice-cream business is to make
available low-caloric ice cream by replacing fat and sugar in the product, while
maintaining the sensory properties (Schaafsma G., 2020).
According to the article Researchandmarket.com (2016), the frozen
industry has been on a higher global growth trajectory for the last few years.
This market segment banks on consumer preference for a convenient

alternative to freshly baked products. In the Philippines, the sales and market
for ice cream products grows 6.3% annually, based on the article
Marketresearch.com (2020).
Love for sweets is how savories started. The sweetness was an
indication that a particular thing was safe to eat. A common example of this is
the fruits, which were safe because they were sweet. Filipino’s fondness for
sweet things was an adaptation that satisfies their cravings and gave them
energy. But as a consequence of experiencing a global pandemic, Filipinos are
now mindful of their eating habits. Filipinos started to achieve a healthy living
because, in times of pandemic, health matters the most. Therefore,
entrepreneurs introduce the idea of producing a sweets food with a power of
essential nutrients that bring benefits to people which is a great help in
achieving healthy and sweet life.
Savories with a product called dream cake ice cream is a starting
business aligned with the dessert industry. This product is made with biscuit
and different flavors of ice cream. But instead of using the usual flavor of ice

cream like chocolate, entrepreneurs came up with the idea of using different
fruit flavors of ice cream for the product to become healthier. The fruits used by
the entrepreneurs to flavor the ice cream mixture were Musa acuminata Colla
(Lakatan banana) and Malus (Apple). Musa acuminata Colla (Lakatan banana)
help the body’s circulatory system deliver oxygen to the brain because it is rich
in potassium. This also helps the body maintain a regular heartbeat, lower blood
pressure and a proper balance of water in the body, according to the National
Institutes of Health, (2017). Malus (Apples) are an incredibly nutritious fruit that
offers multiple health benefits. They’re rich in fiber and antioxidants. Eating
them is linked to a lower risk of many chronic conditions, including diabetes,
heart disease, and cancer. Apples may also promote weight loss and improve
gut and brain health (Lang & Jennings, 2022).
The purpose of the study was to produce a safer and healthier ice cream
product. The creation of dream cake ice cream allows health-conscious people
to continue to enjoy the pleasures of eating ice cream without fear of health

1.1 Business Structure
With regards to business organization, the business is partnership. It is
built by the investments of students from ABM strand that share capitals,
provide different skills and have roles and responsibilities. In day – to – day
management and operation of the business, entrepreneurs participate and do
their assigned tasks. Since it is a starting business, entrepreneurs use the
online and physical method in marketing the product. Entrepreneurs create a
Facebook page for online marketing and build a physical stall for physical
marketing.
1.2 Product and Service
The business provides a product in line with dessert which is Choco
banana cake ice cream and Malus (apple) cake ice cream. As the small
business grow, the entrepreneurs might enhance the operation by offering new
fruit flavors of the product.

Choco banana cake ice cream and Malus (apple) cake ice cream are
placed in a reusable container with varying size of a medium and small
containers. The medium container holds a capacity of 450 ml while the small
container holds a capacity of 73 ml. The reusable container is joined with a
wooden spoon. Entrepreneurs chose to use wood instead of plastic because it
is made without harmful chemicals and decomposes naturally when discarded.
In addition to that, the container is tied with a golden ribbon so that the
packaging will have a lively appearance.
Ice cream cake contains a store-bought chocolate biscuit and is loaded
with banana and apple flavor of ice cream. For Choco banana cake ice cream,
it is loaded with so many nutrients including fiber and several amounts of antioxidant. It also holds little protein and no fats. For the other flavor, Malus (apple)
cake ice cream also holds a lot of fiber and anti-oxidant. Apples are considered
as nutrient-dense fruit, meaning they provide a lot of nutrients per serving. The
products provide health benefits to people. The container is fully loaded for the
consumers’ satisfaction. Concerning the shelf life of our cake ice cream, it can
last for five days if it is refrigerated or properly stored at room temperature. The
ice cream cake is now available and ready to market. Nevertheless, there are
environmental factors affecting the product. The first one is the weather. Now,
that the Philippines is in the dry season, something sweet and cold is perfect

but the rainy season might greatly affect the product. The second and most
affecting environmental factor is the pandemic. People are being thrifty and
mindful in choosing sweet food. They wanted something healthy. So, the
savories business pursue and improve the product by using nutritious food like
banana and apple that provide many benefits to people. Nonetheless the
product, Cake Ice Cream is a satisfactory and healthy substitute for an ordinary
dessert.

Barangay Marfrancisco is located near the Poblacion of Pinamalayan
province in Oriental Mindoro, and is led by Barangay Captain Berting Magsino.
It is classified as an Urban Barangay and covers an area of 273.69 hectares. It
has a population of 6,079 people, accounting for 6.73 percent of the total
Pinamalayan population.
Many establishments such as fast-food chains, drugstores, convenience
stores, grocery stores, franchises, and other businesses have been built in
barangay Marfrancisco because it is the center of the Municipality of
Pinamalayan and is considered as an urban barangay. This is a huge

advantage for residents of Marfrancisco because they can easily meet their
needs without putting in too much effort, time, or money for transportation fees.
Most of the entrepreneurs also considered Barangay Marfrancisco, a great
advantage because it allows them to easily attract customers while also
providing convenience for its residents and contributing to the community’s
economic growth.
1.3 Scope, Limitation, and Delimitation of the Study
The study aims to determine the marketability of Savories. The business
is operated in Barangay Marfrancisco, Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro,
particularly at Linga's residence during the last week of March and first week of
April 2022. This study focuses on the food industry, specifically ice cream cake,
a dessert food product. The respondents of the study were randomly selected
from the residents of the mentioned area. They will represent a larger and more
diverse population of ice cream lovers.
The data from the study will be accumulated through questionnaires to
be answered by the respondents. This will help in the formulation of practical
analysis of the Savories business's marketability and profitability in Barangay
Marfrancisco, Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro.

The fruit flavors used in the production of ice cream are Musa acuminata

used as ice cream flavors have been excluded from production due to various
factors, including financial and environmental concerns. The business provides
delivery service, but it is only limited to the barangays near the town proper.
1.4 Significance of the Study
This study aims to provide information and knowledge regarding the
implementation of establishing Savories in Marfrancisco, Pinamalayan, Oriental
Mindoro. Vital result of this study could be highly significant and beneficial
especially to the following:

Customers. This study will provide them adequate information about the
product and they will directly receive the health benefits of the products,
purchasing it at reasonable price.
•
Community. This study will serve as a way for them to be aware and
informed about the entrepreneurs' implementation of an ice cream cake
that contains low-sugar ingredients and has a variety of health benefits
that can be advantageous to the residents' health while also
contributing to the community's economic growth.

to 2 hours in the refrigerator.

Savories can flourish in the business world if they make the right
decisions with the right people and maintain good customer relationships.
By paying the proper taxes, the company will undoubtedly contribute
more revenue to the government. Through these taxes, the government will
be able to meet its objectives in terms of developing various programs to
assist our fellow citizens. People will be able to find work as a result of the
entrepreneurs' business because it will employ people.
The business will also contribute to the environment by using reusable
containers and wooden spoons to save energy and reduce waste. When
discarded, a wooden spoon decomposes naturally without the use of harmful
chemicals. The product's packaging is a big help in terms of reducing
environmental impact.

Based on the feasibility study, the entrepreneurs concluded that
Savories is feasible in Marfrancisco Pinamalayan Oriental Mindoro. Since
fruits are used as flavorings, the business can enter the market of the ice
cream industry for a healthy ice cream product. The business can meet the
consumer demand for high-quality, low-cost, and healthy products.
The business started with a total capital of P 3,872.00, with each
partner contributing P 774.40. In the first year of operation, for every peso
invested, there will be a return of 0.20 centavo, and the return on investment
will be 29.6 percent to recover the capital used to establish the business.
