SENIOR FINANCE OFFICER Position: Senior Finance Officer Type of employment: Full time contract for 12 months until 1 April 2021 Starting date: 1 April 2020 Location: Embassy of Denmark, 67 Dr. Isert St., North Ridge, Accra Deadline for application: 11 March 2020 noon (Ghana time) The Embassy of Denmark in Accra is recruiting an experienced and talented Senior Finance Officer for its Finance Team. The position requires a person with strong accounting skills, team cooperation skills, and a high sense of integrity. The Senior Finance Officer will be member of a finance team of three persons and will refer to the Head of Finance. Main tasks and responsibilities as Senior Finance Officer Support in formulating embassy budget and ensure the accurate and timely registration of the budget. Responsible for reconciliation of statutory payments and ensure timely payment to the relevant statutory agencies (GRA, SSNIT and Enterprise Trust). Review monthly bank reconciliations and follow-up on all open transactions and take corrective measures were applicable. Ensure monthly accounts reports review and timely reclassification with input from Head of Finance. Ensure the accurate and timely processing of selected payments in line with the embassy operation, including rent, school fees, staff medical insurance, ad-hoc overtime payment, and other contract services. Ensure the accurate and timely processing of invoices in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system for trade cooperation and follow-up on overdue payments. Ensure that all open transactions on interim accounts (incl. prepayment and accrual accounts, debtors, vendors, etc.) are timely settled. Support the Head of Finance with monthly reconciliation of all interim accounts to enhance timely reporting on interim accounts to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Denmark. Ensure an accurate quarterly and year-end close of accounts and timely reporting to the Head of Finance of all quarterly financial information. Support other non-finance staff in processing electronic invoice in the mission’s finance systems (IndFak, RejsUd and FMI) where applicable. Responsible for filing of financial documents relating to job responsibilities in the electronic filling system. Any other task assigned by Head of Finance or Management. Other tasks Ensure that the Embassy’s accounts mandate and the provisions per the accounts instructions are applied and updated. Collaborates with other staff members to support overall team goals and objectives. Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure of the embassy. Support the development of team action plans to improve performance. Back-up for other team members. Minimum Requirements Education: Minimum requirements is a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Professional Certification: ICA Ghana or ACCA with Level 2 is preferable Personal Skills: At least 5 years of working experience in an accounting position. Experience from working in a like-minded organisation is an advance. Full fluency in English - speaking and writing. Full IT-proficiency, including in Microsoft Office. Experience with Navision and online financial systems is an advantage. Quick learner, systematic, meticulous, eye for detail, proactive, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, highly flexible and adaptable, ability to work under pressure, meeting deadlines as well as being a team player. Employment conditions Employment contract from 1 April 2020 to 1 April 202. Salary level will reflect qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results. Medical insurance for staff and dependant family members. Employment requires security clearance by Danish Authorities.
