MGT 212 Group Project [MAO]: Analysing Company Report Group Project (15%) Question: Here students will form groups of six students maximum. You will take a company of their own interest and find out its current management practices in Bangladesh and how the current pandemic situation affected their company. The company has to be a reputable national company and it has to be approved first by the instructor. In order to achieve excellent grade in the report, the groups have to demonstrate practical application of the management theories to the selected company’s operation strategy. Students will be graded based on their analysis over the practices, contribution to the group, professionalism, appearance of the report, and content of the report etc. Any kind of academic misbehaviour is strictly prohibited while writing the report as it will be checked by Turnitin before grading. The report will be expected to remain within 4000-5000 words with proper academic reference. Within The outline you have to answer and include the following questions and elements. [Discuss in details how the current pandemic situation is affecting the situation] - - How is Covid-19 Affecting their Business How did it effect employment? (Do they get salary, are employees getting laid off, how the companies are managing their employees, are they working from home etc.) How are companies adapting to the issues? What role the government is playing to handle the situation? Did they get any support from government? Make your own suggestions on how companies can overcome the downfall once the pandemic ends. Outline of the Report Cover page Information of the group members - Executive summary (It should summarize your report and it should be no longer than 200-250 words.) - Introduction & Mission Statement Main body of the report starts from here. You should provide general information of the company like its basic function, mission, vision, business area, overall sales and revenue, brief history etc. What’s the purpose to write this report and how this report can help you to understand theoretical perspective of management etc. Give brief outline of the other chapters at the end. - Officers of the company and Organogram: Make a chart/ organogram of the top, middle and 1st line managers of the company. Write their name, title, managerial role and annual salary (you can estimate the salary if you can’t find the exact number, in case you make numbers just tell me that they are imaginary). Think about the organizational design of the company. Analyse the work specialization, departmentalization, chain of command, span of command, span of control, centralization or decentralization and formalization of the company. - Situation analysis You have to elaborate the internal and external environment of the company and have to explain from theoretical perspective of management. Use PESTLE to analyse the situation. - SWOT analysis/ PESTLE/ BCG analysis model/ Competitor analysis (porter’s five forces model) You have to analyse the strength, weakness, opportunity and threat of the overall business portfolio of the company. Rather than just describing what their SWOT is, try to analyse it. You can also analyse the business strategy of the company by analysing its Strategic Business Units (SBU) under BCG matrix. Think about the competitive strategy of the company at the same time. Give your justification/explanation. - HRM strategy Briefly state the human resource management process of the company. What’s their total number of employees? Try to give job description of one of their top management level post. What’s the company’s plan for the future employment need? - Team and Communication What’s the importance of group or team in your stated company? What form of communication it actually practices? Analyse the communication networks as well. - Motivation & Leadership Analyse the managerial approach to motivate employees. Are the employees satisfied? What’s the compensation or remuneration process practiced in the company? Which theory of motivation does the company follow? Which leadership style is being followed in the company? Is there any charismatic leader in the organization? Do the company have strong organizational culture? - Control (Short) What control measures does the company take to ensure its - Product quality; Customer satisfaction; Higher production capacity; Employee satisfaction and reducing employee turnover rate; Overall profit and growth? - Management Issues After analysing all the functions of the company, what can be improved to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the firm? What kind of action plan can they make? What will be the risk factor to consider? - Conclusion Ending the report again summarizing overall activities of your stated firm. What could be improved from your perspective and most importantly, what you have learned while preparing this report? NB: Your paper will be rejected right away if any of this occurs; Failure to provide the citation Failure to provide with a bibliography Less than seven sources If there is no cover page Additional Instruction: - - You have to interview the manager of the company to collect the information required for your report. Under the current circumstance, it is expected to conduct the interview via phone/video call. Collect and include the contact information of the manager in your report. - - Include the interview transcript in the appendix. If you fail to secure an interview with any local company manager, you can choose an international company and data can be collected via secondary sources.
