Instructions for Testosterone w/ Safety Glide Needles
Preparing the syringe:
The first time a vial of testosterone is used, it will have a disposable plastic top cover (or
metal centerpiece that has to be peeled off). Remove cover.
Underneath cover is a rubber stopper that needs to be cleaned with an alcohol wipe
before each use.
Take the supplied 1CC syringe and with the 20 gauge 1.0 inch needle attached, draw
back on the plunger until you have an amount equal to your prescribed dose.
Insert the needle through the stopper and inject the air into the vial.
Invert the vial and needle and pull back on the plunger to draw up the desired amount of
the drug. Remove needle. Do not refrigerate the testosterone, but store in dark, dry
place at room temperature. It is important that you use a new needle for each injection.
Remove the 20 gauge needle tip after drawing the proper amount, and discard.
Attach the 25 gauge safety glide needle tip to use for your injection.
Attaching the 25g Safety Needle
1a. Attach the 25g SafetyGlide needle to any standard luer lock
or luer slip hypodermic syringe. Twist until firmly seated to connect to a luer lock syringe.
1b. Pull shield straight off needle to avoid damaging needle point.
Preparing for Injection
Administer medication in accordance with your institution’s protocol.
For user convenience, the needle’s “bevel up” position is oriented to the lever arm.

Injection site(s): Thigh, Glute, or Shoulder
Think of your thigh as a large rectangle that may be divided into half (inner thigh and outer thigh).
• Note the image below is demonstrating the left leg. Visualize a vertical line from the knee to the top of your thigh,
dividing your thigh into “outer” and “inner” regions. You must inject in the outer thigh. On your left leg, this is the left half
of your thigh. On your right leg, this is the right half of your leg.
• Now that you’ve located the outer thigh, locate the midpoint of your thigh. Refer to the pink shaded area in the
illustration below. This is the outer middle thigh.
• The ideal injection site is in the muscle belly of the outer middle thigh.
• It is a good idea to alternate between left and right leg each week to maximize comfort.
• Stretch the skin tight.
• Hold the syringe like a pencil. Insert the
needle straight into your skin 0.75” - 1.0”.
• Slowly inject the testosterone.
• Remove the needle and dispose safely.
Injection site(s): Thigh, Glute, or Shoulder
Intramuscular injection in the Gluteus Maximus (butt muscle).
If you are right handed inject in the upper right area of the right Glute 3 - 4 inches below waistline. See image below.
If you are left handed inject in the upper left area of the left Glute 3 - 4 inches below waistline.
• Stretch the skin tight.
• Hold the syringe like a pencil. Insert the
needle straight into your skin 1.0.”
• Slowly inject the testosterone.
• Remove the needle and dispose safely.

Injection site(s): Thigh, Glute, or Shoulder
Intramuscular injection in the deltoid (shoulder muscle).
Find a comfortable position, either sitting or standing. To locate the ideal injection site on your shoulder, simply place four
fingers across your shoulder, with the top finger at the acromion process (see below). The ideal injection site is
approximately two inches below the acromion process (the location of your third finger), in the muscle belly of the deltoid.
• Stretch the skin tight.
• Hold the syringe like a pencil. Insert the
needle straight into your skin 0.5” - 0.75”
• Slowly inject the testosterone.
• Remove the needle and dispose safely.
Safety Needle Discard
Activate safety mechanism immediately after removal from patient by pushing the lever arm
completely forward until needle tip is completely covered.
Visually confirm that the lever arm has fully advanced and the needle tip is covered.
Use one-handed technique and activate away from self and others.
After activation or if unable to activate, discard immediately in an approved sharps collector
after single use.
