We are capable of differentiating what is right and what is wrong. 9) We do not act solely based on our urges and instincts.10) To be mindful of the consequences of our thoughts and actions is something that we are socialized with as we grow up. 11) We are aware of the different choices and options we have to make, and we are capable of devising alternative courses of action that are acceptable to society. 12) Considering these things, a human person is a social being who does not only exist for himself. 13) I believe a piece of us is constructed in relation to interactions with other people. 14) Our beliefs, attitudes, habits, and virtues are something that we adapt from being exposed in various cultures and societies. 15) Whilst being a unique person with a free will, we also bear responsibility towards other people who have freedom like us. 16) Lastly, a human person is capable of self-actualization and goal-making. 17) This gives meaning to our lived experiences. 18) And this is also because we have an awareness of the past, present, and the future. 19) We do things with the intention of becoming the best version of ourselves. 20) To know what it is to become human as we go through this life. What are the things you consider the role of a person with social responsibility? Use the present situation of Pandemic COVID-19 to answer this question. 1) A person with social responsibility is a person who shows compassion and mindfulness towards others. 2) We as members of society do not solely act based on our personal wants and needs but also meaningfully contribute to the betterment of society at large. 3) To illustrate, we especially see this at a time of a global health crisis where millions of people are affected. 4) The COVID-19 restrictions have challenged all of us to become more responsible and sensitive toward other people's situations. 5) This is simply displayed by staying at home, wearing masks, and practicing physical distancing as much as possible to avoid the spread of the virus. 6) These practices are different from what we are used to but a person who cares for the community they live in will do this to avoid the possibility of infecting a multitude of people. 7) It is also to be noted that COVID-19 pandemic has not only put people's health at risk, but it also has put a strain on our social and economic conditions. 8) Various societal issues were magnified at the height of the pandemic where all people are equally struggling with their livelihood. 9) The normalcy of our lives was temporarily put to halt, so we all had to adjust, most especially the working class. 10) In this note, social responsibility can be observed in companies and different government institutions as well. 11) Business and company owners who truly care about its employees will prioritize their safety and wellness above all. 12) To recognize the importance of its people and to help them at a time of struggle is a true meaning of an institution built on humane values. 13) After all, practicing social responsibility in this aspect creates motivated employees and better working conditions which equate to a better economic output as well. 14) Additionally, the awareness of different issues affecting the community is one way to empathize with people going through difficulties at this time. 15) Engaging in important discussions or just learning about issues regarding the Philippines' fractured health policies is one way to show that we care about the people who need better access to them. 16) I believe that a person who embodies social responsibility uses their voice whether they are directly affected or not. 17) They value their rights as citizens especially when the people in power disregard their responsibilities to the country. 18) Despite the lack of accountability from the government, seeing Filipinos come together to share their resources to donate, especially the infamous "community pantry" is another testament of our compassion and our strong sense of responsibility towards one another. 19) As social beings, despite having the freedom to act in ways the benefit our selves, I believe that caring is also something inherent in most of us. 20) Although we may display this in unique ways, it builds trust among people and keeps the orderliness of our society even in times of challenge like the COVID-19 pandemic. “He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.”Proverbs 14:31 1) For me, this bible verse is a good reminder and a guiding principle for all people–especially when it comes to our differences in socioeconomic status and living conditions. 2) This sheds light on how God views the rich and the poor equally; that it is important to show kindness and grace towards one another regardless of our place in society. 3) Anyone who discriminates and deceives vulnerable people dishonors God while people who genuinely show their compassion in ways that help the poor honors Him. 4) This highlights how we can truly embody the image of God, because how we treat the poor is also a reflection of how we would treat Him and welcome Him in our homes in times of struggle. 5) In a third-world country like the Philippines where 24% of the population are still plunged below the poverty line, it is a sad thought that upward mobility remains to be a concept because of widespread corruption in politics and policies that has put us into economic crisis. 6) And most of the time they are blamed for their socioeconomic conditions, when in fact many factors contributes to this especially the lack of opportunities and inequity. 7) They are often tagged as lazy people, as ills and burden of society. 8) But many people tend to forget that God loved poor people and He will be the first one to seek justice for them. 9) Their continuous oppression is a huge offense to God, as they are people close to His heart and He was also one of them. 10) Greed for power and dishonesty has kept many people stuck in poverty. 11) Many politicians in this Christian/Catholic-dominated country like to hide behind the words of God. 12)They go to church and preach about how the Lord is gracious and kind but they themselves participate in the oppression of the masses. 13) They take advantage of people and create promises to improve their lives if they win a seat without even seeing the deeper underlying causes of poverty. 14) In reality, a huge number of Filipinos has long been experiencing a continuous struggle with their living conditions due to high levels of unemployment, low wages, and the burden of taxes that are unreasonable to the income they earn. 15) Meanwhile, the gap between rich and poor is ever-growing; money is amassed by huge corporations and politicians who have connections to them. 16) The material wealth they have is so much more than what they need in this lifetime. 17) They have created political systems to work for their benefit. 18) More often than not, the policies they create are anti-poor. 19) This power structure has kept many people stagnant and exploited. 20) If only these kinds of people truly understand and embody what God means when He speaks of equality, I believe the material resources that we have in this world will be enough for all of us and no one will have to experience extreme poverty and socioeconomic struggles.
