MODULE 6:
THE EARTH’S INTERNAL HEAT
1.Describe where the Earth’s internal heat
comes from.
• The earth’s internal heat primarily originates
from three main sources.
Radioactive decay
Residual Heat
Tidal forces
2. Identify the sources of earth’s internal heat;
namely, radiogenic heat and primordial heat
The radiogenic heat produced by the radioactive
decay of isotopes in the mantle and crust.
And the primordial heat left over from the formation
of earth.
3. Describe the parts and fuction of earth’s
interior
The structure of the earth is divided into four:
An outer silicate solid crust
A solid mantle
A liquid outer core whose flow generates the earth’s magnetic
And a solid inner core
4.Describe the processes of heat transfer in
the earth’s mantle.
There are three processes can transfer heat
Conduction
Convection
Radiation
