Greyson

To whom it may concern,
We would first off like to request a hearing. To start with, when we first moved to the area it
was during a very stressful time for our family, as we were evicted from our home in Killingly
where we lived for 10 years when our offer to buy fell through, our current home was shown to
us and we made the very quick decision to make the house our home, as we proceeded to
move in we actually believed we resided in Brooklyn for sometime. When we arrived, as we
understood it our son was able to go to Brooklyn Middle school. We submitted paperwork and
submitted our address to the bus depot, and it was stated to us that we would need to provide
transportation for Greyson as a bus did not do pickup or drop-off at our location. This also was
not a problem because we have always driven and picked up our children. The subject was
never brought up that he could not enroll in Brooklyn middle school because of our location. It
wasn’t even a thought in our mind as he entered 8th grade, as there was never anything brought
to our attention his entire 7th grade year. As Greyson has thrived at Brooklyn middle school in
academics and in sports in 7th grade. He tried out for and made the basketball team and the
baseball team. He had attained and kept a High B average to low A average in his academics. As
we have had many conversations with his teachers, he is an example to his fellow students and
athletes. During his time in 8th grade, he has Attained an A average in his classes and again has
tried out for and made the Basketball team. Greyson enjoys his time at Brooklyn middle school
in his academics and sports. Greyson has made many new friends at Brooklyn middle school
and built relationships with the teachers and staff. It has been a crazy 3 years for Greyson not
only with Covid but mom being a nurse in it, with finding out just recently that Greyson’s sister
was diagnosed with a brain tumor while in the Airforce has been difficult also due to her not
able to come home for the Holidays, all kids are fragile, but this is our kid and we as parents do
what we need to do to keep our boy healthy and happy during this all too stressful time, and
that’s what he is, happy and healthy. I mention this with mental health being very important to
our youth, I feel it would be wrong and devastating to Greyson for him to have to move schools
with less than 6 months left to the school year. Also as there would be no difference in his high
school choices between going to Brooklyn Middle school or Canterbury middle school. We feel
the choice for Greyson to be able to attend Brooklyn middle school is the only fair and just
choice for Greyson.
Thank you for your attention in this matter,
Sincerely,
Timothy and Jessica Fuller
