There are various types of tools that can be used to perform different types of task. Most devices are flexible and some have specific functions. Preparing Hand Tools Before you do some repair work on your PC — in fact, before you even think about taking off the cover of your computer, we suggest that you provide yourself with a computer tool kit. The use of proper hand tools and equipment is very important in computer applications. A successful troubleshooter must have knowledge of tools and equipment. A hand tool is a device for performing work on a material or a physical system using only hands. The hands tools can be manually used employing force, or electrically powered, using electrical current. Different Types of Hand Tools Flat head screwdriver -used to loosen or tighten slotted screws . Philips head screwdriver - used to loosen or tighten cross-head screws. Torx screwdriver - used to loosen or tighten screws that have a star-like depression on the top, a feature that is mainly found laptop. Hex driver - sometimes called a nut driver, is used to tighten nuts in the same way that a screwdriver tightens screws. Needle-nose plier - used to hold small parts. Wire cutter - used to strip and cut wires. Tweezers - used to manipulate small parts. Part retriever - used to retrieve parts from location that are too small for your hand to fit. Flashlight - used to light up areas that you cannot see well. Crimper -used to attach connectors to wires. Punch-down tool - used to terminate wire into termination blocks.
