Chapter 1
Chapter 1 employs insight amongst the 5 P’s of entrepreneurial behavior, which consist of 5
aspects of behavior that the most triumphant entrepreneurs display, namely Passion,
Perseverance, Promotion-Prevention Focus, Planning Style and professionalization. These
key components interlink to compliment and determine the effectiveness, and even success
of the entrepreneur.
The founders of Netflix, being Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph, illustrated boldly, in which
Netflix was launched in South Africa, their passion, even in the early stages of the company’s
development, with the use of their innovative mindsets, in which their planning style was
effectively visualized. They had sought to revolutionize the way in which entertainment was
consumed. It became evident their undevoted commitment to the company helped them
persevere, embracing their unique innovation to shape the entertainment industry.
As mentioned above, it is critical that they pursue to implement the 5 P’s, as it allows for
more room of improvement in all areas in the company, hence satisfying all stakeholders of
the company. For example, they could embrace experimentation from employees, which
would allow them to explore new ideas, which can lead to breakthrough ideas and
entrepreneurial opportunities
