HISTORY.
• During Spanish Colonial Period, the idea of reduccion was widely spread.
• In 1750, the creation of new municipalities was implemented due to decree
from Archbishop of Manila.
• March 2, 1752, the municipality of San Jose Del Monte was founded.
• 1901, during American government San Jose Del Monte was placed under Sta.
Maria, Bulacan political supervision.
• In 1918 San Jose Del Monte became independent municipality.
• 1942-1943, Japanese imperial took over San Jose Del Monte
• 1961, Opening of Sapang Palay Resettlement Area known as the first
Resettlement Project.
HISTORY.
• January 25, 1978, under P.D. 1921 nine barangays were created.
• December 1991, under Provincial Ordinance promulgated by R.A 337 the
creation of additional 41 barangays.
• September 10, 2000, San Jose Del Monte proclaimed as component City under
R.A 8797.
-SJDM is the largest town in Bulacan in terms of land area and
population.
-known as the “Balcony of the Metropolis”
-first city in Bulacan and recorded as 86th city in the Philipiines.
• December 18, 2003, CSJDM became first Lone Congressional District.
• August 2007, City’s population number is 439, 090.

-Made up of 59 barangays.
-According to Land Management Bureau, City of
San Jose Del Monte Bulacan is consist of 1 0,553
hectares.
-However, the Local Government Unit (LGU)
claims an actual territorial area of 31 ,294 hectares
(includes the disputed areas with adjacent municipalities and
Angat Watershed Reservation, which has a land area of 18,000
hectares, is partly within the City.)
