White Collar Lethargy- A New Pandemic? White collar lethargy, a new term introduced in Pandemic that may or may not be a pandemic in and of itself. This pandemic has given us many 'new normals,' and one of them is white collar lethargy. Offices took a lot of creative measures during the lockdown to keep their employees interested. Whereas many employees were performing WFH, some were forced to work as frontline workers such as doctors, delivery personnel, essential product producers, and many others. People have become more creative in their excuses to not come to work since the pandemic. The pandemic has not only disrupted the economy, but also people's productivity and efficiency. According to a report published by Nasscom and Boston Consulting Group (BCG), only 5% of tech staff are willing to return full time to workplaces. Another survey conducted by recruitment and staffing firm CIEL HR Services, found that at least 6 out of 10 employees were ready to resign instead of returning to the office. "Many CEOs and business owners believe "white collar lethargy" is the new pandemic. However, we can avoid this sluggishness by establishing a new work-life balance. Companies are opting for a 'hybrid model', in which employees can work from home or in the office, ensuring that office work is completed efficiently and cheerfully. However, in some professions, this model is not applicable, and regular office attendance is required. Furthermore, this model has the disadvantage of allowing for moonlighting, so businesses must be cautious and implement additional measures to avoid moonlighting. Remote and onsite work should be done in tandem for the model's successful implementation. Nandini Sood 5336, MA 1 (Eco) 9592274686
