Braxton Hammontree Mr. Esmond Geography 105 6 October, 2020 Climate Change In Japan Japan has one of the most unique environments. It is its own world in a way hosting million and millions of more people than it should. Not only does japan have a crazy environment because of the people but their climate also effects the food they eat. “The rise will bring severe weather patterns, including heavier rains and floods, which is predicted to affect Japan's most basic crop: rice” (Ferbing). Japan has almost a 6-point risk from the next closest country. There could be a huge drought or there could be a massive tsunami. This is what is so strange about Japan is that the people that live there have no idea what the next day’s weather will entail. “As Japan's climate changes and weather patterns are affected, there is an increase in the likelihood of more intense and frequent extreme weather events, such as storms, droughts and floods” (Tidwell). This will almost certainly have a severe impact on Japan's economy. Japan, being a tourist destination, Is also effected in this way due to snowcaps melting, coral bleaching, flooding, and rising sea levels, which are all causing changes to the tourism industry. This has made tourism industries adopt so that the natural resources are protected. Im sure all the production out of china and japan does not help their environment either. With all of that being said Japan has been prepared for climate change and are trying to do everything they can to not be at risk more than most countries.
