A Pair of Tickets thought.
A Pair of Tickets is a story based upon where our main character Jing-Mei is faced with
many difficult situations within the setting that is presented upon her. She goes through the
struggle about finding an answer that she could not find all of her life trying to understand what
her mother meant about her having a Chinese moment or being Chinese.
To understand what she goes through is actually quite amazing. Her mother always has
told her stories about how she had half-sisters who were twins. She left them behind back when
she was fleeing from the war and has never seem them since despite her efforts for finding a
clue for their location. After her death, Jing-Mei and her father go in effort to meet their family in
china and to also meet up with the long lost twins. In addition, the twins are the only ones
related to our main character since the rest died inside a house when a Japanese bomb
dropped on top of them.
She talks about how she never understood why she left the twins behind until her father
speaks to her about it. She then learns that her mother was struggling to escape so she had to
leave them since she was very ill and unable to carry anything more than herself. Later on they
leave and go meet up with the twins. When they see them Jing-Mei gets a feeling about how the
twins look like their mother. Then again she denies anything that relates to mother. Once she
and twins take a picture together she finally released that all of them have features that reminds
her of her mom.
That is when she realizes the Chinese feeling her mother was talking about and finally
searched he long lost answer with also her long lost half sisters.
