The TikTok Video Cheat Sheet By @social_mino I will start off by saying this. If you are not getting views, your videos are the problem. Not your hashtags, your SEO, or your post times. On TikTok, the only thing that matters to get views is how long you can keep viewers watching the video. That’s why those weirdly low quality meme slideshows get views. That’s why pretty dancers get views. That’s why I got views on my pages (subtle flex I know I just want to show you I know what I’m talking about). 💀 But where’s the correlation? How do all these seemingly random videos get so many views? Do you just need to have followers to get views? Do you need super high production quality to get views? Do you just need to be super good-looking to get views like the fine gentleman who gave me this pdf?! (Yes I’m joking you can laugh). Of course not. There are too many counterexamples for the TikTok algorithm to be that simple. One video, you will hear that you need to use #fyp to get views on the For You Page. The next video will be a video with no caption that has 1M likes. The answer is OPTIMIZING FOR WATCHTIME. Sounds simple, right? Ehh, not really. As you will find in this cheatsheet, the game of increasing watchtime is only straightforward in theory; it becomes nuanced, precise, and quite odd at times when actually applying it to getting views. In the past 2.5 years I’ve spent on TikTok consistently uploading to my now 4 different accounts, I’ve constantly tested to find new ways to increase watchtime. And I still test new strategies to this day! But after over 500 uploads, I have narrowed down 2 key principles that you need to master to get views. The TikTok Video Cheat Sheet @social_mino 1) Visual Satisfaction - Yes, I know this sounds weird but hear me out. - When people watch TikTok, they want to be quickly entertained. Maybe they’re taking a break from work or studying, and they want instant entertainment because they’re too impatient to watch Youtube or Netflix. - Therefore, no TikTok user wants to watch something that has unsatisfying or confusing visuals. Especially not when they have the option to scroll at any second. So being able to visually satisfy viewers is simply a necessity if you even want a chance at keeping viewers watching. Then comes a list of other factors you need to keep viewers interested in your video. - Any slight visual inconvenience is begging the viewer to scroll; any point where maybe the lighting is slightly off, or it gets unclear, or there’s too much going on in the screen for the viewer to easily comprehend. No viewer wants to struggle to understand your TikTok video. 2) Speed - No, not the streamer - Like I said, people want to be quickly entertained on TikTok. So even if your video is clear and satisfying to watch, if it gets slow, people will scroll. You need to find a balance of speed and clarity in your videos. Obviously easier said than done, but that really is the secret. I hope this helped! I’ve been making TikToks for a while now and I really just want to help people grow explosively like I did. Going viral isn’t just luck; there really is an exact science to it.
