Learning Activities
Caregiving is an activity or profession of regularly looking after a
child or a sick, elderly, or disabled person. This Caregiving exploratory
course will develop your Knowledge, Skills, Attitude, and Values (KSAVs) in
providing care to children and adults. At the end of the quarter, you will be
able to: identify caregiving tools, equipment, and paraphernalia; classify
equipment, tools, and paraphernalia according to types and functions;
perform aftercare activities for tools, equipment, and paraphernalia;
perform simple calculations; identify hazards and risks; and evaluate and
control hazards and risks.
Specifically, for this week, you will be able to identify caregiving
tools, equipment, and paraphernalia and classify them according to their
types and functions.

The most important task of a caregiver is to make sure that he/she is
using the right equipment, tool, or paraphernalia that is applicable to a
specific job. Equipment, tools, and paraphernalia are identified according
to their types, functions, and classifications. Each of them is determined
based on the specified task. Therefore, you should be knowledgeable in
using the different tools and equipment used in the health care services. By
going through this module, you will experience different exciting activities
while learning new things.

specific task. As a future caregiver, you should be well-trained in handling
and managing the different tools and equipment that you will be utilizing

with cerebral palsy. As a caregiver, she needs to take care of the patient’s
food, medication, and basic household tasks.

Learning Task 2:
Directions: Read the situations carefully. Put yourself in the situation and
tell how you are going to respond in the given scenario. Make a reflection
by answering the questions below. Write your answer on a separate sheet
of paper.
Irene’s brother is sick, but her guardian is at work. Her brother has a very
high temperature. She gets the first aid kit and look for something that is
needed in taking her brother’s body temperature. She calls her mother to
ask what food she is going to prepare, and she immediately prepares the
food that will make him feel better. After feeding, she makes their home
tidy. How wonderful it is to have a very caring sister like her.
