Dear Ms. Sakoguchi,
I hope all is well. My name is Aritxa Garduno and I am interested in interning for the Public
Defender - Harbor Justice Center. I am currently in my 3rd year at the University of California,
Irvine and plan to go to law school after getting a B.A in Criminology, Law, and Society.
I have experience in customer service jobs in which I have learned to interact with customers,
hone my communication skills, and lead tasks among myself and coworkers. Currently, I am a
hostess at Disneyland California Adventure and am responsible for being the “welcoming face”
as soon as guests arrive at the restaurant. In this position, I not only interact with guests, but I
also answer phone calls and assist other departments within the theme park. It has also provided
me with technology experience and has built my ability to multitask. Because of my efficiency
and willingness to learn, I have also been offered opportunities to shadow and possibly transfer
to other positions such as bushelp or lead in order to take on more responsibility within the park.
Aside from work, I also have 2 years of experience in UCI’s Commuter Student Support
Commission. Here, I am able to intern and provide assistance to my commissioner in order to
help commuter students expand their accessibility to resources. Specifically, I assist with
planning events by communicating and sending emails to possible partners. Additionally I am
able to create graphics and advertise these events as well.
Through my involvement in multiple jobs and school organizations, I am confident in my ability
to effectively assist and lead. I am positive that my experience and customer service skills would
assist me in being a strong intern for your office and align with the mission. I look forward to
