15. When will Vikram Lander detach from the spacecraft?
Answer. On 17th August 2023, Vikram Lander successfully detached from the propulsion module.
16. What is the name of the lander and rover used in Chandrayaan 3?
Answer. The lander used in Chandryaan 3 is named 'Vikram' and the rover used in the mission is
named 'Pragyan'. Both of these names are similar to India's second moon mission, 'Chandrayaan2'.
17.Why is Chandrayaan 3 important for India?
Answer. Successful completion of Chandrayaan 3 will make India, the fourth country on Earth, to
make a soft landing on the moon. Further, India would be the first country to make a landing on
the south pole of the moon, an area that remains largely unexplored yet.
18. What tests were carried out to examine the technologies used in the making of
Chandrayaan 3?
Answer. In order to examine the technologies listed in the above answers, several lander special
tests were conducted. The name of those tests along with their basic details have been listed below:
Integrated Cold Test - For the demonstration of the Integrated Sensors & Navigation performance
test using a helicopter as a test platform
Integrated Hot test – For the demonstration of closed-loop performance test with sensors,
actuators, and NGC using a Tower crane as a test platform
Lander Leg mechanism performance test on a lunar simulant test bed simulating different
touchdown conditions
19. What are the key aspects of Chandryaan 3?
Answer. Chandrayaan 3 is special for India because of some key aspects of the mission. Find the
key aspects of Chandrayaan 3 below:
To measure the near-surface plasma (ions and electrons) density and its changes with time
To carry out the measurements of thermal properties of the lunar surface near-polar region
To measure seismicity around the landing site and delineate the structure of the lunar crust and
mantle
It is a passive experiment to understand the dynamics of the Moon system
20. When did Chandrayaan 3 land on moon?
Answer. Chandrayaan 3 took the most awaited turn on 23rd August 2023 at 6:04 PM (IST).
Chandrayaan 3 lander Vikram landed successfully on the surface of the moon, leaving all 140 crore
