Chandrayaan 3 Chandrayaan, which means “moon vehicle” in Sanskrit ISRO Chief - S. Somanath Chandrayaan-3 is India’s lunar mission, which aims to be the world’s first mission to soft-land near the lunar south pole. Aim to land a rover on the lunar South Pole. Chandrayaan 3 launched on 14 July 2023 at 2:35pm from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota It will be land at the moon’s South Pole, a location where the presence of water molecules was discovered during India’s inaugural moon mission in 2008. With this, India is going to become the fourth country to accomplish a gentle touchdown on the Moon, following the United States, the Soviet Union, China Launched by the Launch Vehicle Mark-III (LVM3) Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2 to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface. Chandrayaan-3 is consists of 3 major modules1) Lander Module (LM), 2) Propulsion Module (PM) and 3) Rover . It aims to reach moon in 40 days (expected to soft land between August 23 and 24) 1) The propulsion module will carry the lander and rover configuration till 100 km lunar orbit. 2) The Lander will have the capability to soft land at a specified lunar site and deploy the Rover which will carry out in-situ chemical analysis of the lunar surface during the course of its mobility. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) plans to retain the names of the Chandrayaan-2 lander and rover for their Chandrayaan-3. Lander – Vikram Rover - Pragyan (Sanskrit for "wisdom") Total weight of the rocket The rocket consists of 1) Propulsion Module - 2148 kg, 2) Lander Module - 1752 kg, 3) Rover - 26 kg Total - 3900 Kg. Objectives of Chandrayaan-3 1) To demonstrate safe and soft landing on the lunar surface. 2) To demonstrate Rover roving on the moon. 4) To conduct in-situ scientific experiments. Budget Of Chandrayaan 3 With an estimated budget of Rs 615 crore, Chandrayaan-3 is said to be one of the most cost-effective space missions Rocket Woman of India. India Moon Mission is being led by Ritu Shrivastava. She is a scientist at ISRO. She was Mission Director of Chandrayaan-2 and the Deputy Operations Director of Mangalyaan, India's Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM). Native of Lucknow, UP. She is popularly known as the rocket woman of India. History Of Chandrayaan Mission India has launched two lunar missions so far, The first Chandrayaan mission was launched on October 22, 2008. The mission was known for its discovery of water on the moon and later it led to many other discoveries too. The second mission, Chandrayaan-2 was launched on July 22, 2019, The lander made it to the lunar orbit, but was later lost just 2.1 km above the moon's surface. Chandrayaan -2 Chandrayaan 2 mission was launched from Sriharikota Space Center on 22 July 2019 to the Moon by a Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III (GSLV Mk III). Chandrayaan 2 is an Indian lunar mission that will explore the Moon’s south polar region. No country has ever gone there before. The launch vehicle will be carrying an orbiter, a rover named Pragyan and a lander named Vikram ISRO Chief – K Sivan
