Baccalaureate Mass Graduation Liturgy Call to Worship Good morning my brothers and sisters in Christ! We are gathered together in this Eucharistic Celebration for our praise and thanksgiving for all the good and marvelous things God has shown to us during our long, yet, challenging educational journey here in our prestigious Alma Mater. This is a great achievement for us having passed this scholastic year and a new beginning of a greater challenge of our chosen path of life. Yes, as we journey towards eternal life, Jesus warns us that whoever makes himself great will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be made great. He reminds us that we are all equal and He is the only Teacher and Master. With joy and exaltation, let us all rise and sing our entrance hymn as we welcome our mass presider: Most Rev. Midel S. Aseo and co-celebrants. Greeting Priest: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Commentator/All: Priest: Amen. The grace of our lord Jesus Christ, and the Love of god, and the communion of the holy spirit be with you all. Commentator/All: And with your spirit. 1 INTRODUCTION TO THE CELEBRATION A brief introduction to the Mass may be given by the presider. Then the presider continues with the faithful: I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, And, striking their breast, they say: Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; Therefore, I ask the blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. Priest: May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Commentator: Amen KYRIE V/: Lord have Mercy. | R/: Lord have Mercy. For you have given your children a sacred time for the renewing and purifying of their hearts, that, freed from disordered affections, they may so deal with the things of this passing world as to hold rather to the things that eternally endure. And so, with the Angels and all the Saints, we sing the hymn of your praise, as without end we acclaim: Commentator/All: Sung Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Commentator: Please all kneel. (After the holy) 6 EUCHARISTIC PRAYER III Priest: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that may become for us the body and † blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion, he took bread and giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, FOR THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU. In similar way, when supper was ended, He took the chalice, and, giving you thanks, he said the blessing, and gave the chalice to his disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT, WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME. He shows the chalice to the people, places it on the corporal and genuflects in adoration. CELEBRANT ALONE: The mystery of faith. Commentator/And People continue, acclaiming (sung) We proclaim your death O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again. 7 CELEBRANT CONTINUES: Therefore, O Lord, as we celebrate the memorial of the saving Passion of your Son, his wondrous Resurrection and Ascension into heaven, and as we look forward to his second coming, we offer you in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice. Look, we pray, upon the oblation of your Church and, recognizing the sacrificial Victim by whose death you willed to reconcile us to yourself, grant that we, who are nourished by the Body and Blood of your Son and filled with his Holy Spirit may become one body, one spirit in Christ. CON-CELEBRANT 1: May he make us an eternal offering to you so that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect, especially with the most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God with Blessed Joseph her most chaste spouse, with your blessed Apostles and glorious Martyrs with Saint Ignatius and with all the Saints, on whose constant intercession in your presence we rely for unfailing help. CON-CELEBRANT 2: May this Sacrifice of our reconciliation we pray, O Lord, advance the peace and salvation of all the world. Be pleased to confirm in faith and charity your pilgrim Church on earth, with your servant (Name) our Pope, (Name) our Bishop, with the Order of Bishops, all the clergy, and the entire people you have gained for your own. CON-CELEBRANT 3: Listen graciously to the prayers of this family, whom you have summoned before you: in your compassion, 8 O merciful Father, gather to yourself all your children scattered throughout the world. † To our departed brothers and sisters and to all who were pleasing to you at their passing from this life, give kind admittance to your kingdom. There we hope to enjoy forever the fullness of your glory. Through Christ our Lord, through whom you bestow on the world all that is good. † The celebrant takes the paten with the host together with the deacon for the chalice and, lifting them up, sings or says: The people acclaim: Amen. (sung) (After Amen) Commentator: Please all stand. That, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin, and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The people conclude the prayer with the acclamation: (sung) Commentator: For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Then the celebrant, with hands extended, says aloud: Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles: Peace I leave you, my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant us her peace and unity in accordance with your will. Who live and reign forever and ever. Commentator/The people answer: Presider: The peace of the Lord be with you always. Commentator/The people answer: Presider: Amen. And with your spirit. Meanwhile, the celebrant takes the host and breaks it over the paten. He places a small piece in the chalice, saying inaudibly; May this mingling of the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ bring eternal life to us who receive it. 10 PRIVATE PREPARATION OF THE PRIEST Then the celebrant joins his hands and says inaudibly; May the receiving of your Body and Blood, Lord Jesus Christ, not bring me judgment and condemnation, but through your loving mercy be for me protection in mind and body and a healing remedy. COMMUNION The presider genuflects. Taking the host, he raises it slightly over the paten and, facing the people, says aloud: Behold the Lamb of God. Behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. He adds, once only, with the people. Commentator: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the Word and my soul shall be healed. Celebrant says quietly: May the body of Christ keep me safe for eternal life. He reverently consumes the body of Christ.
