I want to tell you about one of my favorite films – The Hunger games. The films in
this series were based on books by Suzanne Collins.
Katniss Everdeen is the main character of The Hunger Games. At the beginning of
the first book, she is 16 years old, quiet, independent and tough. She has long dark
hair, olive skin and gray eyes. She lives in what was once North America, but is
now Panem, divided into 12 districts with her mother and younger sister
Primrose.
This is Gale Hawthorne is a Seam boy who is two years older than Katniss and
shares her hunting skills, dark hair, olive skin and gray eyes. Thanks to hunting,
they became best friends. He was in love with Katniss and was forced to watch her
volunteer to compete in the 74th Hunger Games in her sister's place and feign an
affair with Peet Mellark in order to stay alive.
Here is Pete. He is the son of a baker, lives with two older brothers, a quiet father
and a strict mother. His skills include physical strength, personal charm and
charisma, public speaking, baking and painting. Peeta has had a crush on Katniss
since he first saw her in elementary school. When he is young, Peeta saves Katniss
and her family from starvation by giving her bread that he accidentally burned,
causing his mother to beat him.
Every year the Capitol hosts the Hunger Games, where one male and female
tribute aged 12-18 from each district are chosen to fight to the death on a televised
event, Katniss ends up volunteering as tribute for her district when her younger
sister is chosen at the reaping. Katniss and her fellow tribute form her district,
Peeta Melark, are taken to the Capitol to train for the games.
When Katness and Peeta travel together on a train to the Capitol, they meet
Haymitch and Effie, their mentors. And this is Zinna, the designer who created
incredible outfits for them to perform on stage.
The hunger games begin and the whole country is watching. The goal in this game
is to kill all members of other districts and stay alive. The heroes are wounded, put
to the test. But they both survives which goes against the rules. At the end, Pete
and Catherine are going to eat poisonous mushrooms, but they were stopped –and
its the first time in the game when two participants win..
