Analyze the effects of Rizal’s execution Rizal in Dapitan On July 17, 1892, Rizal arrive in Dapitan: 1. Rizal viewed it as a place full of darkness and it ended his career. 2. He didn’t know where to stay 3. His guard, Capitan Ricardo Carnicero, won the lottery. They divided the money and Rizal used it to buy land in Talisay. 4. Capitan Ricardo allowed him to buy a house in exchange of updating him 3 times a day Life is Talisay Rizal lived his life in Talisay a simple life: ● ● ● ● Bought a bamboo and nipa house He also founded an eye clinic He made a house for the ladies in his family Earned a lot of money and used for lumber business What were the Contribution of Rizal to Dapitan? 01 Develop an eye clinic for the poor, some of his patience came from Hong Kong 02 Developed waterways so that people in Talisay so that Dapitan could have clean water 03 Established a school that catered the education of young people for free What were the Contribution of Rizal to Dapitan? 04 05 06 Developed a lighting and cleaning system of areas to avoid mosquitos. She came to Rizal to cure the blindness of the one who adopted her. Josephine fell in love with Rizal. Rizal asked his family to accept Josephine as he was happy with her. Literary Works in Dapitan Hymn of Talisay My Retreat Imprisonment & Trial Rizal’s deportation lasted for 4 years an in those 4 years (1892-1896): ● ● ● ● July 31,1896 – his exile ended. August 06, 1896 – rode “Castilla” from Spain to Cuba. August 19, 1896 – “Katipunan” was discovered and accused Rizal as the founder. August 26, 1896 – the “Uprising” Imprisonment & ● August 30,1896 – Governor General Blanco Trial declared state of war against the 8 provinces ● ● ● ● in the Philippines. September 02, 1896 – Rizal’s trip to Spain started while he’s not aware of being accused as the founder of KKK. September 28, 1896 – Rizal was able to know the plan against Blanco. October 23, 1896 – Rizal was able to reach Barcelona but was no allowed to go down the ship. November 03, 1896 – was imprisoned in Fort Santiago The Trial Dec.08, 1896 Dec.15,1896 Dec.16,1896 Rizal was allowed to choose someone to be his legal council and he chose Luis Taviel de Andrade. Presented the letter to his countrymen stating that the leaders of the uprising only used his name to collect funds and he was not connected to the uprising The trial against Rizal started and wrote : 1. July 1892 – no political involvement 2. No conversation to the rebels 3. Volunteer doctor on Cuba 4. Had a “kayak” to escape or join then rebels The Trial Dec.15,1896 5. 6. 7. The Decision Governor General Despujol reviewed all the things related to case of Rizal: ● ● ● December 26,1896 – the trail was held and all the evidence were presented. December 29, 1896 – the Governor General signed the decision that Rizal would be executed at 7:00am in Bagumbayan. December 29, 1896 – Rizal was informed about the decision. My Last Farewell The Execution The decision was made by the government and due to the accusation of being ta rebel, the decision was of the higher up was death. And on December 30, 1896 at 6:30 am, Rizal left Fort Santiago. At 7:03 am, he was executed at Bagumbayan. “Consummatum Est” —Jose Rizal
