A Shocking Accident Review Essay
Introduction
In my opinion, the shocking accident story is humorous, though
the story is about an accident (which is about his father’s death). When I
heard that the main character’s (Jerome’s) father had died from an
accident, I would’ve thought the same as Jerome - Maybe his father died
from a gunshot, or a car running on him… Nope, he died from a pig
falling on his head, quite insane.
Quick Summary
The main character, Jerome, received a call from Mr.Wordsworth
which told him that his father had died from a ‘serious accident’ (later on
revealed that he died from a falling pig). This was a sad and serious
incident to Jerome as Jerome’s father was an idol to Jerome. Later on in
the story, Jerome tells the others about his fathers death. They all find it
hilarious because of the reason of death. He decides to make the story
sound less ridiculous so that his father can be respected and his death to
be serious.
Researching
After reading this story, I decided to search how heavy an average
pig is. According to google, an average pig weighs 140-300 kilograms.
The story confirms that the pig fell on him. This means that the skull
would be affected first. An average adult’s skull can take around 520kg of
weight before being crushed, this means that the skull wouldn’t break.
You might ask, “Well, maybe the combined weight of the pig with the
skull crushed the spine.” This isn’t possible either, as the average adult’s
spine can carry up to 1 ton worth of weight. This means that the human’s
spine can carry a small car without breaking. Basically, the way that
Jerome’s father died is nearly (and / or) impossible.
Why This Story Is Great
Most stories nowadays are either : Fantasy, romance, sci-fi, ect.
When I read these stories, some are great, while some are bad. This story
takes a break in these categories (and / or) themes. The story is a
realistic-fiction and comedy type of story. The comedy is from the main
fact of his father’s death. This is later amplified when we learn that he
was a secret agent. I like it (no sociopathic behavior)!
Conclusion
The story overall is good, this is because of the type of story it is,
the humor and plot and character development of Jerome.
