1.0 Introduction
Nowadays, people rely on computers to create, save or store, and manage critical and detail
information. Thus, it is important that computers and the a they save are accessible and available
when needed. So that it’s really crucial that users to protect their computers and data from loss,
damage and misuse. According to (Gary B. Shelly et. al. ,2012), computer security risk is any event
or action that could cause a loss of or damage to computer hardware, software, data, information n or
processing capability. While some breaches to computer security are accidental, many are intentional.
Some intruders do no damage; they merely access data, information or programs on the computer
before logging. Other intruders indicate some evidence of their presence either by leaving a message
or by deliberately altering or damaging data. To overcome security risks, we will be using security
measures
What is security measure? Security measures is the protection of computer systems and
information from harm, theft and unauthorized use. Security always must be updated to avoid latest
security threats easily affected computer.
Hafiz is the IT Officer in a private health clinic know as Mutiara Clinic at Masjid Tanah,
Melaka Mutiara Clinic is one of the business or clarify as a small business. The IT unit in the clinic
consist of four (4) desktop, one (1) high-end personal computer, wireless router, shared printer and a
scanner. The Mutiara Clinic needs security measures such as Firewall and Anti-virus to prevent any
security risks happen .The security risks that possible happen in IT Mutiara Clinic is Unauthorized
Access and Use ,system failure and Malware .This is happen due from sharing or gaining data or file
of business from customers that have high probability of infected by a virus ,worm or Trojan ,an
employee using an organization’s computer to send personal e-mail messages ,have electrical power
variation because of disasters and also for others factor. This will affect or causes customers or
patient’s and employee’s data that have been stored from loss and spread out to public without
permission.

2.0 Computer Security Risks and Measures
First security risk that may attacked the computer in the clinic is Malware. According to (Vijayanand.
C.D & Arunlal. K.S,2019) Malware is an umbrella term used to represent many forms of malicious
code software .Any software purposefully design for bad intention can categorised as a malware .The
purpose malware is to harm intentionally to the computing device and user directly or in directly .For
example ,Malicious code is a software that causes malice or malfunction such as performance of
computer system drop ,one or more computer applications may fail to start and loss of data through
deliberate deletion or corruption of data files. This will cause the business of activity in Mutiara Clinic
and may be led to loss of money if without do any measures to overcome. The malicious code become
active when a victim, due to ignorance, installs the program that contains it. There are numerous of
malware which is Trojan Horse, worm and viruses. Basically, the most popular or easier to get
infected is viruses. What is virus? Virus is deployed by attackers to damage or take control of a
computer without the permission (Josh Fruhlinger,2022). The virus can spread through an E-Mail
message that are accepted by customers of Mutiara Clinic. This happens may be without the
customers being aware of the virus infected. Furthermore, another factor might cause the employee
open the attachment that sent by email. As a protection, Mr Hafiz must install an antivirus program
on all computers at IT clinic and update software also the virus signature files regularly as a precaution
step. There is numerous popular antivirus program which is AVG Anti-Virus, Avast antivirus and
McAfee VirusScan.
The next risk is system failure. System failure may occur because of when the computer
system faces a malfunction in the system. It may cause the data of customers and employee of the
clinic loss and may be led to information and software resulting in damage of hardware. There are
variety causes can lead to system failure. These include aging hardware, natural disasters such as fire,
floods or hurricanes, and random even which is electrical power problems. So, this problem can be
avoided by using additional electrical protection, some users connect an uninterruptible power supply
(UPS) to the computer. According to (Yew Kwang Hooi & Low Tang Jung, 2014) UPS is a device
that contains surge protection circuits and one or more batteries that can provide power during a
temporary or permanent loss of power. UPS for personal computer should provide from 10-50
minutes of use in the event of a total power loss. This way be able to user back up the data that is
processing at that time so that no important data loss.

Third security risk is unauthorized access and use. According to (Gary B.Shelly et. al ,2012)
Unauthorized access is the use of a computer or network without permission while Unauthorized use
is the use of a computer or it’s data for unapproved or possibly illegal activities. This risk will happen
in Mutiara Clinic when any employee using an organization’s computer to send personal e-mail
messages and someone or unauthorized person gaining access to a bank computer and performing an
authorized transfer. Without realizing it clinic privacy data that stored in the computer can be access
and might be used by someone for negative or purposes. Mr.Hafiz must use firewalls and instruction
detection software to block unauthorized access while permitting outward communication .Firewall
already setting to be applied on hardware and software that really essential for clinic Mutiara
computer system because all networked and online computer users should implement a firewall
solution. They can implement a firewall solution themselves outsources they need to a company in
providing firewall protection. The most popular of firewall software that Hafiz can be used are Norton
Personal Firewall and ZoneAlarm Pro.
3.0 Conclusion
As a result, it’s really important for Hafiz to know how to overcame the security measure that have
high possibility to happen efficiently. So that, will make sure the patient’s and employee’s data do
not spread out to public without permission. This will lead someone to access or use the data for bad
purposes and give negative affect. So, there are three security risk that might happen to computer in
Clinic Mutiara and also 3 suggestions to overcome this security risk. Lastly, all the employees at least
have to know the basic how to manage when any security risk occur.
