Layers of the Atmosphere
The Earth's atmosphere is like a giant blanket of air that wraps around our
planet. It is divided into several layers, each with its unique characteristics.
The first layer closest to the Earth's surface is called the troposphere. This is where
we live and where all the weather happens.
As you go higher up, you'll reach the stratosphere, which is where the ozone
layer is located. The mesosphere is the third layer, and it's known for being the
coldest part of the atmosphere. Above that is the thermosphere, where you can
find beautiful auroras, like the northern lights (aurora borealis) and southern lights
(aurora australis). Finally, the exosphere is the outermost layer, where the
atmosphere gradually merges with space. Understanding these layers helps
scientists study weather, climate, and the Earth's overall environment.
