Aligning Conservation and Community for Sustainability
Future Focussed Education and Employment in the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa
There is an initiative underway to connect the area between
Addo National Park and The Great Fish River Nature
Reserve into a single Conservation Landscape.
The long term success of this project requires a Sustainable
Conservation Economy. A conservation economy includes
elements that extend well beyond the technical boundaries
of conservation, but align together to the overall objective of
a sustainable economic model where both humans and
wildlife prosper.
Within this and with the Eastern Cape specifically in mind,
Education and Employment are critical elements of the
Conservation Economy.
The Inspire The Future programme seeks to:

Interest children in maths, science and coding via Drones
●
Build the required fundamentals through building and equipping computer labs and providing maths and science digital
curriculums and in person tutoring support
●
Develop and extend existing bursary, learnership and employment pathways:
Maths and science tutors
Drone and Coding Club Facilitators
Drone operators with Remote Pilot Licenses employed in
conservation and traditional agriculture
Coding industry employment largely unrelated to
conservation, but resulting from the conservation economy
Inspire The Future Collaboration Network
The Be Moved Collective - connects people with the causes they support, developing numerous initiatives to support the Addo2Fish
vision, Inspire The Future being the project focussing on education and employment
Indalo Reserve Network - private game reserves between Addo and Fish, each with Foundations connected to and active in their
local communities
Inspire Africa - Inspire S.T.E.A.M. is expanding the dialogue and application of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics
with drone technology in schools and tertiary education organisations
BBD Software - Software development firm with established CSI commitment and delivery, specifically building and equipping
computer labs in rural Eastern Cape communities
Turnkey Modular - off-site production of modular solutions ideally suited for on site assembly computer labs
