PROTECT MENTAL HEALTH AND STOP BULLYING One of the dilemmas of the children or teenagers in school is bullying and it is becoming more and more of an issue. Some are afraid to go to school because they are afraid to be bullied. At least seven out of 10 students in the Philippines suffered bullying and we don’t know how these students survive or fighting everyday knowing that will only get bullied in school. Bullying has a huge negative impact on the students, especially on their mental health and overall wellbeing. Bullying can result in emotions of rejection, exclusion, loneliness, and low self-esteem. Some victims of bullying may also experience feelings of depression and anxiety. I truly believe that mental health is important in people’s lives. If the person is having a problem with his/her mental health, it affects their well-being. Therefore, if the student experienced bullying it will affect his/her academic performance and lose confidence in the things they used to do. There may be some factors that need to identify why the students have courage to being the bullied. The bully also needs some advice about the impacts of bullying on the bullied student and should be aware of the consequences. This, I believe, is the most serious issue that must be addressed by having counselors or any other adult visit every single student and inquire how they are doing and if anything is wrong. I chose this advocacy because I want to be a voice for the students who don’t have courage to fight and speak for themselves. I’m not just a student but I am also a fighter that is willing to stand and speak up with someone who experienced or experiencing bullying to stop this dilemma. I believe that bullying should have no place in these institutions, there should only be peace and unity. To achieve my advocacy, I will coordinate with the school head and organizations that have same advocacy as me to help me to reach the medical centers about mental health. Seminars and consultation in every student will be a very big help to reduce and prevent bullying.
