Conclusion
INTRODUCTION
STEM is an educational approach that focuses on Science Technology Engineering Mathematics
thereby helping us to develop critical thinking skills and improving problem-solving abilities.
What is Engineering?


The branch of science and technology that is concerned with the design, building and use
of engines, machines and structures
Application of the principles of science and mathematics to solve real world problems
and to innovate new products and processes across a wide range of industries and
applications
Who is an Engineer?
An engineer is one who creates the systems and structures that our businesses, lives and
societies are built on from computer software to skyscrapers to instruments, tools etc.
One who gets excited about things no one else cares about and solves problems you
didn’t know existed
If you have any engineer in your life that you’re close to, you already know that they are
part scientist, part mathematician, part designer and part magician
WHY?
It has been predicted that in coming years approximately 75% of all new jobs will require
qualifications and skills in the area of STEM.
HOW?
 Critical thinking and innovative mindset
 Creativity
 Get different skills from different STEM areas

 Analytical thinking
 Develop keen interest in STEM subjects: Pure science subjects, Mathematics and Further
Mathematics
 Write JAMB
 Narrow down to the field of Engineering that you are passionate about such as Civil
Engineering, Mechanical, Water, Elect/Elect, Mechatronics, etc. ( Pursue degrees and
careers in Engineering as you grow up)
 Get Engineering Educative programmes just like “Engineering & You”
 Embrace technologies (Digital literacy)
 Love solving problems: Engineers solve problems; if there are none, they create one.
 Be precise and up for trying any solution
 If not inventing something new, figuring out how to make an existing process work
better and more efficiently
CONCLUSION
When you try out an idea and it fails, it is an opportunity to do it better till it succeeds. Even
when it succeeds, there are still one thousand and one ways to make it more effective and
efficient.
Thomas Eddison kept working on the electrical filament bulb till he achieved one with long
lasting hours and a higher level of safety.
