FRONT OFFICE SERVICES
Learning Area: Home Economics
Quarter: SECOND QUARTER
I. OBJECTIVES:
A. CONTENT STANDARD:
The learner demonstrates understanding on the use of tools, equipment, and
paraphernalia in FOS.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
The learners independently use tools, equipment and paraphernalia in FOS.
C. LEARNING COMPETENCIES
* LO 1. Identify FOS tools, equipment, and paraphernalia applicable to a specific job
*LO 2. Use FOS tools, equipment, and paraphernalia
Specific Objectives:
After the class session the learners should be able to:
a. Identify FOS tools, equipment, and paraphernalia
b. Classify equipment, tools, and paraphernalia according to types and
functions.
c. Describe equipment, tools, and paraphernalia based on the specified task

The teacher will ask one student to lead the prayer. After the
prayer the teacher will ask the class monitor to check the
attendance.

Pass The Chocolate Bar Game
While the music plays, the learner will pass the chocolate bar
around the class. When the music stops, the learner holding
the chocolate bar will identify the picture, if they belong to a
tools, equipment or paraphernalia. If the learner answered
correctly, the chocolate bar will serves as the price, but if not
the game will continue until the learner answered correctly.

Tools –handheld devices that aids in accomplishing a task.
Equipment –a set of articles or physical resources to equip a
person or thing.
Paraphernalia- a miscellaneous article, especially a material for
a particular activity
Hospitality- a service rendered to a guest
FOS TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND PARAPHERNALIA
1. Front desk- the reception area in the hotel, a desk where
ABSTRACTION: visitors are greeted and in making direct contact with the
guest.
2. Filling cabinet –a piece of furniture used to store papers
documents in the folder. This is where they put information
about the guest. Records of the reservation and bookings in
the previous event.
3. Key/ room Racks –used for keeping the keys in sequential
order.
4. Safety deposit box- a locked box in an hotel where money,
important documents and other valuables can be stored.
5. Reservation rack- use to collect the slip of the guest.
6. Folio Tray -is where the guest folios are stored and arranged
by guestroom numbers. They use it to track the folio of various
registered guest for future references.
7. laptop/computer –used easier for data record system, main
purpose is for reservation, registration, accounting and even
auditing.

9. Telephone-is use to answer room reservation and other
related call in front office
10. Cash Register-used for calculating and recording sales
transactions.
11. Credit Card Imprinter -presses credit card against a guest
credit card. It contains data that will tell if who is the owner
and the account number.
12. Reservation form a form filled out by the reservation
assistant at the time of the request.
13 Calculator- is a device for calculation.
14. Cash receipt- acknowledgement that a payment has been
made.
15. Guest folio- record of the transaction made by an
individual of guest within a hotel.
16. Key card- a small plastic card use to open a door or room in
a hotel.
APPLICATION:
Performance task:
Direction: Divide the class into 5. Each group will be given
different tasks.
Each group will have a role-play including the use of at least
five (5) tools, equipment and paraphernalia during the play.
They will be graded according to the following rubrics:
