E-Business #3: Moonlight Delivery
Moonlight Delivery (MD) is a service provided to students at Rowan University who live
on campus. We deliver food and small sundry items from local fast food restaurants,
convenience stores, and drug stores.
Our delivery service is available to the student dormitories and housing areas between the
hours of dusk and 8:00 am every day of the week. People order items from laptops, and
have them delivered, usually within an hour They do not have to worry about getting to a
car or walking outside alone after dark. The mobile app is especially helpful in this regard,
The new mobile app that makes it easy to order food and other items from local suppliers
will expand the business significantly. The easy-to-use app is available for ios and
Android phones. There is also an online site that is accessible from a home computer or
tablet. This is an added convenience to our already thriving delivery service via telephone.
The mission of Moonlight Delivery is to provide a great delivery service to the Rowan
University community with the safety of each and every customer in mind. “We strive for
customer service excellence and the delivery of quality service and customer care” We
provide a safe alternative to walking or driving within the local area for short errands for a
reasonable fee and short delivery time.
The domain name for our website will be www.moonlightdelivery.com. The domain name
does not currently exist. We can purchase it from Network Solutions as a premium
domain name for a fee of $1595.00. A company to oversee the app and provide updates as
needed will be hired (outsourced capability). This company will have all responsibility for
app maintenance, upgrades and modifications.
The new app accesses local food establishment menus and other businesses that are
delivery partners. There are a few competing services- however, MD has a wide range of
delivery products, is mobile friendly, and offers a simple streamlined order process. We
offer fast delivery, have a large customer base, and have great knowledge of the area.
Moonlightdelivery.com allows us to expand into different markets, offer late night
delivery services, expand existing partnerships, and offer more driver and customer
incentives. The mobile app convenience will expand our current user

market and create increased revenue for MD. In the future, we seek to expand our current
local market.
A major risk in this scenario is that we have no app design expertise. We may have to
outsource to develop the app in addition to app maintenance. There is no traditional
marketing budget so there will be a delay in bridging the gap between current and
potential customers. Another challenge that we face is that our mobile app only reaches a
small distance to be of use to customers. We will have to arrange for an advertising
budget that is strictly for the promotion and implementation of our app.

Description
The Moon-Light delivery app prioritizes ease of use (Customer User Interface). The
description is a late night food delivery app that allows drivers to pick up on your
location, receive your order via the mobile app and then have the food delivered to your
door as soon as possible, to satisfy any customer’s needs.
The app has all the features that any food delivery service should have, including
locations of all the nearest fast food restaurants, a full pick and choose menu, item
descriptions, and a fast and easy checkout system that either uses Apple Pay, Google
Wallet, Cash, or any major credit card. Some competitors in this space are DoorDash and
GrubHub.
Functionality
The Functionality of the app includes the ability to find and order from local restaurants
and local convenience stores, with a delivery fee added. Customers have access to
restaurant and local convenience store online menu. MoonLight delivery will be there all
hours of the night. Some more functions of the app include easy to use credit card check
out and a variety of payment systems.
Other information
The Moon-Light delivery service app will be available on both on the Apple App store
and the Google play store for free the seller of the app will be “Moonlight Incorporated”.
It will be available for anyone with Apple IOS 5 and up and Android 4 and up. The
category will be listed as a service and will use less than 100 MB of memory on your
phone or tablet.
