“Smoke and Ladder”
The students will be grouped into two (2) and will play the game.
HOW TO PLAY




Players take turns rolling the dice and moving their markers along the
board towards the finish line.
Players whose markers land on a ladder will read the scenario on the
square and ‘climb’ up to the top; players whose markers land on smoke
(cigarette) will read the corresponding scenario and move down to the
bottom.
The first player to reach the ‘Finish’ square wins the game.

b. Analysis
“Seeing Through the Smoke”
The students will be grouped into three and will be given cigarette packs (task
cards) that they need to accomplish within the time given.
Group 1
1. Joints
-Smokers are more likely to get rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
2. Skin
-Smoking speeds up your skin’s aging process.
Group 2
3. Eyes
-Smoking three times likely to develop cataracts
4. Sex Organs
-Male smokers are more likely to have erectile dysfunction (ED)
Group 3
5. Lungs
-smoking causes lung cancer.
6. Gums
-Smoking can cause tender, bleeding gums; painful chewing; and bad breath
C. Application
“Educate Me”
With another groupings , students will be given another packs of cigarettes (task cards) which
they need to accomplish or perform within the given time allotment. Group leaders will make
sure that all members have a corresponding function
After each group presentation the teacher will ask questions:
1. Does your output/presentation shows what you are trying to convey to your audience? Why
do you think so?
2. How are you going to make use of this output/presentation more meaningful?
Students output or performance will be judge using a rubric.

d. Abstraction
In a form of a game entitled “Don’t Light Up the Stick” the students will pass a pack of
cigarette with cigarette-like rolled papers in it containing varied questions, they will be
encouraged to give their ideas and insights regarding the topic discussed.
1. What are the dangers in smoking?
2. How do smoking affects your health and daily life?
3. How can you prevent the risks of smoking?
4. How important is self-respect and self-discipline?
