Assignment 3: WRITING MY OWN REACTION ABOUT IT
Life has changed tremendously over the last century, and the advancement of media
technology is a major factor for this. The media entered people's lives and had a significant impact
on the lives of all inhabitants around the world. The communication outlets or technologies used
to store and convey information or data are referred to as media. Print media, publishing, news
media, photography, cinema, broadcasting, digital media, and advertising are all examples of
components of the mass media communications sector. Thanks to the origin of this so called media,
it made a great run in the human lives.
In the 19th century, the media used in that period of time was more manually functioned
and it is somehow likely hard to obtain. It all started with the Printing Press. Richard M. Hoe
invented the steam-powered rotary printing press in 1843 in the United States, which allowed
millions of copies of a page to be printed in a single day. Because continuous feed allowed the
presses to run at a considerably higher speed, mass production of printed works flourished after
the switch to rolled paper. In the following periods in the human lives, Films, sound recordings,
radio, television, personal computers, video cassettes, video games, and the Internet are some of
the major media forms or groups that have been introduced since the beginning of the twentieth
century.
Stated above, Internet shook the entire media platforms as it can manifest all of the media
forms in just seconds. The Internet is a worldwide network that connects computers. People can
share information and converse via the Internet from any location with an Internet connection.
Amazingly, internet became powerful and became the most frequently used in the human lives.
The thing about the internet is that, it eliminated the power of other media forms. In addition,
internet should be used with care as it doesn’t oriented the users on what can be the effects their
privacy if internet is used without care. In addition, one of the negative effects on this so called
internet is that, it is really addictive and that can disrupt ones student’s education. Ridiculously,
internet can also help students to strive their education, but in an appropriate usage.
Year 2017, Surigao del Norte experienced a massive earthquake. People around the country
knew the Earthly phenomenon with the help of Social Media powered by the Internet. Citizens of
Surigao del Norte who witnessed the quake made documents that can be seen everywhere. It helped
the news channels to speed up their information pick-up about the happenings. Honestly, I am one
of those social media users empowered by internet that disseminated photos, videos and anything
else that are related to this tragedy.
As a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education- Major in English student, Internet will
more likely to be my friend. I know that internet will surely help me to drive on my career. In the
sense that, internet can help me to seek information that can be useful for me to discuss to my
future students. Also, if ever this online-class continues, of course internet will be my companion
upon uploading any important files that my future students needed to accomplish. I will study more
on how to responsibly use the internet for me to easily use, safely use, and to better understand the
world around me.
