Heavy Duty/Truck and Coach Technician Student Safety Regulations and General Safety Standards 1 Student Safety Regulations and General Safety Standards DISCLAIMER: Some of the pictures displayed in this presentation demonstrate some unsafe acts or lack of proper apparel. 2 Safety Regulations • Prescription Safety Glasses • Must be CSA approved • Must have permanent side shields OR • Approved Safety Glasses must be worn over top 3 Safety Regulations • CSA approved safety glasses must be worn at all times in a lab, even when using face shields • ONLY clear lenses are allowed inside or outside 4 Safety Regulations • ALL Labs: • No steel frames allowed on Safety or Prescription Glasses 5 Safety Regulations • Double eye protection must be worn when using abrasive or cutting equipment 6 Safety Regulations • Welding helmet must remain in the down position during all welding and chipping operations. 7 Safety Regulations • Welding jackets or similar must be worn when welding out of position • Cotton Coveralls must be worn when using a Torch to cut 8 Safety Regulations • Students must be trained in the safe and efficient operation of equipment prior to use • Proof of training is required Ask faculty member for help if unsure of operation 9 Safety Regulations Equipment must tagged out 10 Safety Regulations • Use of correct testing equipment is imperative 11 Safety Regulations • Never used frayed or taped electrical extension cords 12 Safety Regulations • When working outdoor a GFCI is required 13 Safety Regulations 14 Safety Regulations Please complete Quiz 2 15
