HONOLULU (KITV4) - The Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation has
launched an outreach effort to deter the feeding of feral chickens around Oahu.

Over a dozen signs have been installed at five City parks, which is part of a public
messaging campaign aimed at informing park visitors not to feed the feral chickens.
The signs were installed at:
• Ala Wai Community Park
• Kailua District Park
• Kapiolani Park
• Makiki District Park
• Mau‘umae Nature Park

Oahu has a feral chicken population problem, and the City hopes these signs can help
lower the population by discouraging the public from feeding the chickens.
Feral chickens can be a nuisance to residential areas, including foraging, crowing at
odd hours, creating health concerns with their waste, and agitating domestic and
house pets.
