Artificial intelligence, what is it? in its simplest form it’s the stimulation of human intelligence
processed by mainly computer systems, today I will be discussing the advantages and
disadvantages of artificial intelligence or better known as AI and its effects on people's
livelihood.
Let us first look at the advantages of AI, there are many that can be listed but they mainly can
include the 24/7 availability which can be greatly appreciated by students all around the world
and effortless work needed to operate AI. A great example of AI is Chat GPT, this app is
commonly used amongst students to help write essays and explain topics in depth further
educating them, another great AI tool is Grammarly, which offers writing assistance, corrects
grammar, improves the quality of the sentences and much more.
Other AI perks include software services and virtual customer assistance which all are very
helpful in the business and marketing industry. We also learn that AI assists the health care
sector with risky decisions when it comes to a patient's health and medical diagnosis. So now as
we can see the advantages of AI are endless and improve our lives in many ways.
Now let us discuss the disadvantages AI has on people's lives. The obvious one is the effect its
having on people's jobs, with AI taking care of the human resources needed in the education
center for example correction of assignments, it leaves students dependent on AI and them not
knowing how to correct it themselves when necessary. Regarding the business sector, again
where human resources are needed AI replaces that leaving consultants, advisors etc. Jobless,
for example when people are employed in a business to help in customer service AI replaces
that.
If we look at the effect AI has in healthcare, this is a major concern as they are being
programmed to advise patients, provide medical diagnoses and are also very close in
performing surgeries leaving a doctors role in the medical field at high risk.
Now that I have given you a broaden perspective on AI, it is important to understand although
it can be very helpful it can also cause unemployment.
