Bolashak Oil and Gas Processing Plant GROUP 3 KR21403 OIL AND GAS PRODUCTION OPERATIONS GROUP MEMBERS Bolashak Oil and Gas Processing Plant NAME MATRIC NUMBERS Muhammad Hafizul Syahran Bin Amir EK21110041 Ventcent Bin Fartrick EK21110043 Mukhzanih Bin Kirinu EK21110052 Efrain Harris Modoit EK21110053 Paven Raj A/L Muniandy EK21160078 Khairil Aqil Bin Ramli EK21160056 ABSTRACT To demonstrate the knowledge gained in the oil and gas process and also the management itself, specifically in the Bolashak Oil and Gas processing plant. Introduction Refers to the location, characteristics, and history of the plant. Produced up to 450,000 barrels of oil and 8.8 million cubic metres of gas per day Located 40 km north-west of Atyrau in Kazakhstan. Launched in June 2013. Generated more than 2,500 jobs Bolashak oil and gas processing plant Built as part of Kashagan project First oil production at the plant is expected by the end of 2013 1 CRUDE STABILIZATION PROCESS What is Crude Stabilization Process? ● Removal of light components from a hydrocarbon liquid to lower its vapour pressure to a desirable level ● To meet the requirements of a pipeline sales contract ● Reduces the quantity of intermediate hydrocarbon components (propane and butane) that flash to vapour, resulting in an increase in liquid volume. ● Separators: A mechanical equipment used for the separation operation ○ Two-phase separator ○ Three-phase separator Kashagan field processing facilities layout Crude Stabilization Process Bolashak OnG Processing Plant at ● Crude oil from the Kashagan oil field is first introduced into separation operation ● 3 separator stages offshore on D-island ● The High pressure hydrocarbon will flow through the HP Separator, Continuing to MP Separator, and lastly, LP Separator ○ to knock off the liquids from the flow stream ● The stabilizer: ○ located onshore, ○ fourth separation stage. ○ Gas from the stabilizer is mixed with offshore gas and sent to Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU) for H2S removal ○ Stabilized oil will be processed for further export. 2 Gas and Crude Treatment WHAT IS GAS AND CRUDE TREATMENT ? ● Gas treatment: the process of removing contaminants and impurities from natural gas or biogas, such as water, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, and other trace components ● Crude treatment : crude oil treatment describes the procedures used to separate the different parts of crude oil and eliminate impurities. WHY DO WE NEED A GAS AND CRUDE TREATMENT ? ● To remove impurities and contaminants from the extracted gas and crude oil. ● To achieve pipeline specifications, adhere to safety regulations, and avoid equipment corrosion and failure, purification is required. ● For the safety of workers in the oil and gas sector and protect the environment . The figure below shows a flow diagram for Gas treatment at Bolashak Processing Plant: For the crude treatment, the process flow diagram are as shown below: 3 CONTAMINANT REMOVAL AND RECOVERY Refers to the refining process of the feedstock after going through gas and crude treatment What is Contaminants Removal and Recovery? Based on our case study… Bolashak Processing Plant Specializes in gas and crude treatment. Atyrau Refinery Plant Refines the feedstock provided by the Bolashak Processing Plant Contaminants Removal The main contaminant removed is sulfur. Contaminant Recovery THE ECONOMICS OF PETROLEUM OPERATIONS MARKET DEMAND AND PRICE COVID-19 pandemic caused a slowdown in the world economy and decreased demand for oil and gas. PROCESSING COST the cost of refining crude oil into different petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. EXTRACTION COST extraction costs can be high due to the remote location and complex geological structures of the field. EMPLOYMENT FACTOR provides employment opportunities for workers in various industries, such as engineering, construction, transportation, and maintenance. 4 Conclusion The Bolashak Processing Plant is a significant oil and gas processing facility located in the Atyrau region of Kazakhstan. Conclusion In this process, the raw natural gas and crude oil are treated to remove impurities, such as water, sulfur compounds, and other contaminants. The process of removing light hydrocarbons, such as butane and propane, from the crude oil to make it safer for transportation The plant's joint venture structure with several international oil companies helps to mitigate some of the risks and uncertainties involved in petroleum operations, while also providing opportunities for collaboration and shared resources. Hydrotreating is primarily used to remove sulfur compounds from the feedstock. References 1. Linkedin.com. (2020).
