communication infrastructure
•Global on Communication
Globalization creates a global communication
system, reflecting the new reality where
everybody is connected to everybody and
everybody depends om and responsible for
everybody.
The goal of effective global communication is
to achieve communication that gets the
desired response leading to the harmonious
connection.
Positive Impacts of Globalization on
Communication
• Increase business opportunities
Through global communication, information
itself can be transferred as a valuable
business asset from one country to another.
• Remove cultural barriers
With TV and movies, cultural barriers are
becoming less prevalent. Being able to
communicate effectively and frequently with
colleagues or friends across the world helps
people understand each other's cultures a
little better.
•Develop a global village
Global village is coined by theorist Marshall
Mcluhan. It is created when distance and
isolation no longer matter because people are
connected by technology.
* More language contacts happens
Globalization widens our circle. We can
communicate with many people around the
world.
Negative Impacts of Globalization
*Unemployment
Unemployment caused by local industries
being unable to compete.
Trade barrier removals and foreign dumping
of surplus products at lower cost cause
intense competition, leading to shutdown of
local industries which also lead to
unemployment.
•Environmental damage
Environmental damage caused by lax
environmental protection.
Factories failed to include costs in preventing
environmental pollution into their price of
goods, so as to reduce their cost of production
and increase their competitiveness. This will
cause an unbalance environment, leading to
climate change and major catastrophes such
as flash floods or haze.
• Labor exploitation
Globalization has led to exploitation of labor.
Prisoners and child workers are used to work
in inhumane conditions. Safety standards are
ignored to produce cheap goods. There is
also an increase in human trafficking.
