Lecture 10 Name: Aristoteles Bramantyo Utomo NIM: 22/492427/EK/23763 Ethics in the Labor Market Regarding the ethics that are performed in the labor market, we are going to look at tit with Eden Farm’s perspective. Eden Farm is a B2b Food Supply Chain Company, they distributes food ingredients from 5000+ Local Farmers to 50,000+ Culinary Businesses across Indonesia. These Culinary Businesses ranges from High-class Restaurants to the smallest of Warung that are spread across Indonesia in all its islands. In the past, Indonesia has a very fragmented and high wastage food supply chin which caused 9 major pain point to all stakeholders, resulting in a massive loss that could be turned into profit from the wastes that are left. Indonesia uses a 3 step program for its food supply chain. Starting from the supply, where it is considered a Fragmented Supply, which is unorganized plantation & limited market access, only 30% of the product is edible and the fragmentation in on the supply side. Next, The supply chain part has a Multi layered Middleman, which has a low commitment, they are mostly in consignment mode and finally their payment is not enough to even last them a month of food. The final step in the supply chain is the Demand step, in Indonesia the way how these products that the farmer has made is sold through the help of traditional markets which uses traditional Distribution. Traditional Distribution has a volatile market price and low fullfilment, supply inconsistency from various suppliers and significant ingredient wastage up to 30%. Indonesia’s Employment status of their labor workers can be divided into 6 types, those are; Self Employed, Employer assisted by temporary workers/unpaid worker, Employer assisted by permanent workers/paid worker, Regular employee, Casual worker and Family worker/unpaid worker. Self employed, works at her/his own risk without assisted by paid per mount worker or unpaid worker include technical job or skill job. Employer assisted by temporary workers/unpaid worker, works at her/his own risk and assisted by temporary worker/unpaid worker. Employer assisted by permanent workers/paid worker does, his/her business at her/his own risk at least one assisted by paid permanent worker. Regular employee, works permanently for other people or institution/office/company and gains some money/cash or goods as wage/salary. Casual worker, have no permanent employer is not categorized as laborer/worker/employee. Family worker/unpaid worker, works for other people without pay in cash or goods. In any work environment, there can be no work that could happen without any work agreement between the employer and the employee. If any kind of work activity happens without any work agreement, there will be a probability that your employer will not pay your hard work, due to no work agreement made in any kind of way. Another important feature in a business, there should be partnership between two or more individual. In this case, EdenFarm will need to have partnership with the farmers who create these products that they have been farming in a specific period of time. However, not all of their product can be sold, due to the farmers not using the most effective way to farm.
