1 A Narrative Report GRADE 10 MOONSTONE “We, teachers are considered as the second parent of our students and we may also be the only adult to whom they can run to when help is needed. Keeping them safe from all forms of harm and abuse plays a vital role to our profession.” July 17, 2018, it was inculcated to the minds of Grade 10 Moonstone the content of DepEd Order No. 40 series of 2012 also known as the Department of Education Child Protection Policy headed by the class adviser Ms. Julianne Jane C. Diongson. 2 The enclosure to DepEd Order No. 40, series of 2012 which is the policy and guidelines on protecting children in school from abuse, violence, exploitation, discrimination, bullying and other forms of abuse were discussed. General provision of the said DepEd Order was clearly emphasized by the speaker, the class adviser herself Ms. Diongson with pursuant to the 1987 constitution, the state shall defend the right of children to assistance, including proper care and nutrition and special protection from all forms of neglect, abuse, cruelty, exploitation and other conditions prejudicial to their development. The students were also informed as stated in section 10 of the said DepEd Order that protecting them from all forms of harm is a shared responsibility between the administrator, guidance counselor, teacher, supreme student and barangay council. In times of harm, they can go to this committee for help. 3 One of the students asked, what if none of those mentioned part of the CPP committee will help them after the report of abuse then where else can they go. The question was addressed by Ms. Diongson by explaining that there are preventive measures to address child abuse and proper procedures in handling the case. If ever none of those mentioned CPP committee can deal with the complaint of the abused then maybe she/he can go to higher officials or institutions like DSWD. After the discussion, open forum was done to hear the side of the students and as well as to address their inquiries. Each child has the right to be protected by any forms of abuse and violence. Everyone has worked well together. 4 5 CAREER GUIDANCE NARRATIVE GRADE 10 MOONSTONE JULIANNE JANE C. DIONGSON CLASS ADVISER It was July 20, 2018 when Career Guidance Conference was conducted at Grade 10 Moonstone facilitated by Ms. Julianne Jane C. Diongson, their class adviser; attended by 54 Moonstone students in their chosen professional outfit. The conference started with a prayer and word of wisdom given by the Class President wherein she quoted that “A good plan implemented today is better than a perfect plan implemented tomorrow.” Emphasizing that having a plan for the future is a prerequisite of success. Slide shows of Career Coaching was then presented and discussed by the class adviser. Followed by an open forum and lastly, students showcased their chosen career path and was encouraged to join the career guidance culmination. Ms. Diongson reiterated that career guidance is the stepping stone to bridge gaps between aspirations and reality because it enables you to gain valuable awareness of: Personal Strengths Capabilities and Skills Traits and Values The students were also challenged to write their own book of success and together they shouted “We are the hope of this nation. We will succeed!” 6 7
