Chapter 5 – This is home!
A place that I loved the most was my mom’s parents’ home!
I have no idea why? But I just love my grandparent’s home in India whenever we stay with
them. It’s just perfect!
I love the ambiance and the vibe more than my dad’s parent’s home (where I’m supposed to
live according to Indian traditions). The neighbourhood is relaxing and mostly silent; it is
mainly because my grandparent’s house is the last house in the villa. I guess it’s perfect for
them as well as they are retired. For me, the whole main reason is because I love my
grandparents (my mom’s parents). Ok “I’m maybe a little bias to them.” But the main point
is that they are the sweetest and the kindest grandparents anyone could ask for.
When I was young, I loved spending time with them in their home, especially during
schooldays (where I’d spend half of the week with them) and go back to my dad’s parents’
home. The best part is that my grandma makes mouth-watering traditional meals. Every
time we get back from school, she makes a splendid snack with “chai” that is the ultimate
combo for evening tea. She loves to spoil me and my sister; She buys candies for us all the
time (It was an addiction). My grandpa is not exceptional. Fun fact, he buys us occasionally
delicious “Naan and butter chicken” whenever we go to stay with them!
There is no moment that I will not forget to miss in my childhood home, simply every detail
The same room that I slept in every night, the same comfy bed, the same mirror with
brown borders that I saw my reflection while getting ready, the bright green wardrobe as
well as the exact side table that is still there. “Everything stays same in the room, except for
the record of time.”
These occurred during the presence of staying in my childhood home!
Moreover, the neighbours were so kind! I still remember when my sister and I would always
hang out with the neighbour’s kids; So, they are also part of my childhood home memories.
Unfortunately, Times change! Every time I visit India, nostalgic memories flow in the air as I
visit my childhood home. I get flashbacks on past moments that I captured through my eyes
during the early years of my life.
Oh! I really wish that I could go back in time to 2014. I want to be young again! I know
that not everything will stay the same. However, sometimes I realise that changes are for a
worthy cause.
