The teacher will present a sample Blog which is to be presented on screen.
Abstraction
Ask: What is blog? A blog is an online platform, like a website, that
allows the blogger to write or post content to it. Usually, a blogger, a
person who posts content to the blogs, write informative texts, such as
features, opinions or commentary. The act of writing content for the blog
is called blogging.
Blogs can be classified in three main types:
1. Personal- deals with the blogger’s personal life
2. Professional- contains blogs about the blogger’s work
3. Corporate- showcases products and services that a company sells
In this time of digital media, blogs have become a powerful tool to share
ideas and express opinions. A blog can include the following features:
1. Post- the text content written by the blogger
2. Comments- the reader’s opinions about the post
3. Photographs- pictures uploaded and embedded into log
4. Video- a digital recording of moving visual images uploaded to the
blog
5. Widgets- third-part applications that can be added to the blog
6. Blogroll- a list of links that the blogger admires and links to RSS Feeda web feed format that updates users of blog information updates.

Using Tips in Writing Blogs
1. Write a catchy headline or title.
2. Begin with an interesting lead paragraph.
3. Use persuasive words.
4. Tell a story that catches the attention of readers.
5. Observe brevity and clarity of ideas.
6. Avoid very long sentences and paragraphs because they are inherently
unfriendly to readers’ attention span.
7. Use subheads to break a long discussion.
8. Keep your blog design and color scheme simple. The font size must be
the least eleven points or larger.
9. Use attractive images and photos to attract readers.
Say: In order to show your appreciation on the importance of a blog, I
want you to write a commentary or critique on the blog that I present to
you.
Note: The teacher will provide a sample blog to be commented or
criticized by the students through writing.
