Proposal Effectively functioning system of public transport is not merely a matter of providing high quality service but also ensuring safety of the passengers and the stuff responsible for offering transportation services. The aim of this proposal is to comment on the issues of the local public transport and to suggest ideas for possible improvements. Faced problems For commuters like myself as well as other numerous passengers it is inevitable to use the suburban train going from the region to Moscow. To our great disappointment, the interior of the trains leaves much to be desired: narrow aisles, uncomfortable seats forcing people to constantly push against each other, absence of restrooms and air conditioning. Unfortunately, the train stations are very often not equipped well enough to meet the needs of commuters too: they very often have to freeze while waiting for their train. Recommendations It is vital to create decent travelling conditions for commuters to avoid a stressful tense atmosphere and to encourage more people to use the public transport. Considering that many people have to travel more than one hour, it would be a good idea to replace old type of trains with more spacious ones, with more room for people to sit and move inside the car and air conditioning installed. Taking into account Russian weather conditions, it would make sense to adapt the stations to them and give the passengers the opportunity to wait for their train in a comfortable warm place which at least protects them from extremely low temperatures common in Russia. If these recommendations were to be implemented, the daily journey of millions of commuters would become safer and much less risky to their health.
