Banig Placemat
Materials Used: Sud-Sud, Coloring,
Water
Description: The banig placemat is a
handcrafted item by the Higaonon tribe,
traditionally used during meals or while
eating out in the fields. The sudsud
plant, found in the marshes of Puntian
Sumilao Bukidnon, is woven by hand to
create the intricate design and pattern
of the banig placemat.

WINE BOTTLE
Material: BAMBOO, WOOD
Description
This bottle wine is a type of container
for storing and serving wine that made
entirely or partially from bamboo. The
bamboo that we used is from our farm.
We curve this bottle using a knife and
bolo.

Description:
Banig or a place mat is an indigenous
craft that mainly use a native grass and
can be found in “basakan”. Its purpose
is to protect the table from water marks,
food stains or heat damage.

town, city, or village in the nation. It is
frequently used as decoration during
town fiestas in Bulacan, particularly in
Malolos
and
Hagonoy,
where
Singkaban Art originated.)

“UKIT”
Material Used: Pencil, Knife , Wood,
Varnish
Description:
This Traditional art in the Philippines of
wood carving called “Ukit” . The wood
that I used is from Gmelina. I carved a
guitar in the middle of it using a knife
that has been sharpened from both
sides.
